This week, Team TCPD also celebrated National Police Week by showing appreciation for our officers in a particularly delicious way. To show their gratitude to the team, our chiefs and command staff rolled up their sleeves and made homemade gumbo and fresh boudin balls for our officers!

The food was great, but what we enjoyed even more was the opportunity to come together and thank our officers for everything they do to keep our community safe.

Please join us in recognizing and thanking law enforcement officers everywhere during Police Week.

This week is National Police Week, a time when we pause to thank all of the officers who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our community, and to honor those who gave their lives to do so.

The Galveston County Peace Officers Memorial is always a meaningful part of the week, where our team pays tribute to Officers O.E. Evans and W.C. Simmons, Texas City police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Officer Evans' End of Watch was February 13, 1928, and Officer Simmons' End of Watch was July 13, 1974.

We have not forgotten the service of these officers, nor will we ever. We take pride in keeping their memories with us through a permanent display in the front of our Criminal Justice Center, which includes pencil rubbings of their names from the Washington D.C. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

On Monday, May 4, Marathon GBR contacted our department to report a felony theft of copper from a secured lay-down yard on their property. Our Criminal Investigations and Crime Suppression Unit immediately launched an investigation, in close coordination with the Marathon GBR Security Team.

The collaborative effort led to the identification and apprehension of 47-year-old Collins Tully, a resident of Texas City.

Tully was arrested and officially charged with the following offenses:

β€’ Theft of Property (State Jail Felony) | Bond set at $60,000
β€’ Fraudulent Use of Identification (Third-Degree Felony) | Bond set at $60,000

We would like to thank the Marathon GBR Security Team for their partnership and the information they shared throughout the investigation, which led to the swift resolution of this case.
