GCHD Announces Retirement of Dr. Philip Keiser

After nearly a decade of dedicated service to Galveston County, Dr. Philip Keiser will retire from his roles as Chief Executive Officer of the Galveston County Health District and Galveston County Local Health Authority, effective October 1, 2026.

Dr. Keiser joined GCHD as Local Health Authority in 2016 and was selected to serve as CEO in 2021. Throughout his tenure, he provided critical leadership during some of our community’s most significant public health challenges, including Galveston County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous infectious and communicable disease threats.

His leadership, medical expertise, and commitment to public service have made a lasting impact on GCHD and the residents of Galveston County.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Keiser for his years of dedicated service and wishing him all the best in his retirement!
