2024 Laureate of The American Prize for Architecture

We are honored to share that Sang Dae Lee, utopian architect, philosopher, theorist, and social advocate, has been named the 2024 Laureate of The American Prize for Architecture.

Mr. Lee, the founding principal of UnitedLAB Associates (New York and Seoul), has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to contemporary architecture by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

The American Prize for Architecture, formerly named in honor of Louis H. Sullivan, remains the highest distinction awarded in the United States to individuals or firms whose work exemplifies excellence, innovation, and a profound social and cultural vision in architecture.

Founded in 2006, UnitedLAB is a multidisciplinary practice known for its pioneering approach to architecture, landscape, and urban design.

“This is a formidable, one-of-a-kind design visionary who is pushing the envelope in today’s architecture practice,” stated Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, President/CEO of The Chicago Athenaeum.
