Over a dozen volunteers joined Hutchinson River Restoration for a cleanup along Rodmanβs Neck, where the Hutchinson River flows into Long Island Sound. Together, we removed nearly 400 pounds of trash from the shoreline, including plastic bottles, wrappers, styrofoam, and debris of all shapes and sizes, helping make our watershed a little cleaner and healthier. ππ
Thanks to years of continued cleanup efforts, weβre now seeing fewer plastic bottles and large trash items along the shoreline, a reminder that community action truly makes a difference.
We were also joined by David Abreu from Save the Sound, who helped survey the shoreline for tiny plastic pellets known as βnurdles,β which have been found in nearby areas. While none were found during this cleanup, the search continues. Reach out to David if youβd like to volunteer for future surveys.
After the cleanup, volunteers gathered for lunch at the City Island Yacht Club and enjoyed beautiful views of the bay together.
Special thanks to all of our volunteers, especially the Boys, Girls, and Cub Scouts of Pelham, for showing up and making an impact! πβ»οΈ
