Dr. Lidia Virgil is Chief Operations Officer of SOMOS Community Care, New York State's only physician-led Performing Provider System. She was one of five founding leaders who built SOMOS alongside Dr. Ramon Tallaj, bringing decades of clinical and business experience to transforming care for vulnerable New Yorkers.

A licensed doctor and dedicated advocate for accessible healthcare, Dr. Virgil developed a federally funded program that expanded care for homebound patients and helped launch Care Transitions programs across New York City that have kept thousands of patients out of the hospital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led community testing efforts across churches, schools, and community centers throughout the Bronx.

Nothing beats the excitement on a kid's face when they get their own new backpack ready for the first day of school.

At the Back to School Celebration hosted by Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia (86th Assembly District), Unique People Services was thrilled to give away more than 500 school supply items, bookbags, notebooks, pouch bags, stationery, and UPS swag, to help our young people start the year feeling prepared, confident, and excited to learn.

Moments like this remind us what's possible when a community comes together for its kids. Huge thank you to Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia and Ponce Bank for their generosity and continued partnership in supporting Bronx families.

Thank you to The Office of The Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson for allocating $1,000,000 in capital funding to Ogden Theater Apartments at 1415 Ogden Avenue. This investment will help us continue improving the quality of life for our residents and strengthening the home they deserve.
