During my research I've noticed that there are no documents of Garifuna war veterans or active duty on file, this is due because some do not identify thems
Garifuna Veterans of America. The Situation
Historically the largest demand for benefits and services for veterans occurs immediately after discharge and again as the veteran population ages and requires greater access to medical facilities and long-term care services. With the substantial number of Garifuna veterans under the age of 30 leaving the military after deployment to the wars in Iraq an
d Afghanistan, coupled with a considerable large population of Vietnam veterans who are now approaching a period in their lives where they will need greater access to medical services and long-term care, New York City should expect and plan for a sustained spike in the demand for these earned services. Strategic Goals
• Increase the accessibility and utilization of assisted living and long-term care, housing benefits and services to Garifuna veterans and their families.
• Create fiscal and operational efficiencies within the organization.
• Built awareness of available benefits by collaborating with other government and non-government organizations
Organizational Communication
Establish a wide branding, marketing, and communications to educate veterans, their families and the public about services and benefits available to them. The Challenges
Budget constraints notwithstanding, we must continue to innovate and improve the services we deliver to veterans. Benefit Services
• Compensation and pension benefits
• Education benefits (e.g GI bill)
• Survivor and burial benefits
• Health care
