At Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education, children in the South Bronx and East Harlem communities have the opportunity to explore art, music, dance and theater after school in a safe and welcoming environment, led by experienced teaching artists. Here, our young artists practice choreography under the tutelage of Bomba master Milteri Tucker, founder of Bombazo Dance Co.

Artistic expression helps young people explore their cultural heritage, think critically about the world around them, and succeed academically by developing strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Learn more about our mission by visiting casitamaria.org.

Under the musical direction of percussionist/arranger Jose Madera and co-led by saxophonist/flutist Mitch Frohman (both long time members of the Tito Puente Orchestra and Latin-Jazz Ensemble).

A member of our Teen Arts Apprentice Program (TAAP) was invited to Greenwich House Pottery last month to participate in a Whitney Education Community Advisory Network (WECAN) cohort meeting. TAAP is a unique opportunity for our older participants to gain a deeper understanding of the creative world and expand their horizons through field trips and other arts-focused extracurricular activities. TAAP continues to grow thanks to a generous donation made by Tina Vidal-Duart and her husband Carlos Duart. We are immensely grateful for their support!
