Community Connections for Youth - CCFY

Yesterday, we stood with the Coalition to Protect Raise the Age before City Hall that seeks to bring the truth forward: youth do better when they are treated as youth, because that’s what they are! There is zero evidence to suggest that youth facing the adult system does anything more than create more harm. A billion dollars of INVESTMENT has been held back from programs like ours that ACTUALLY pivots lives. We have the 10 year data to prove it (more on that later). If you want safer communities, then put the money in the interventions that exist on these blocks where 16/17 year old YOUTH can be loved, guided, and uplifted into their true selves. We urge the state, DON’T GO BACKWARDS dig into the progress made. Invest in the transformative work!

Three Bronx boricuas and a check. We are ready to deliver on deeper commitments to our youth. We believe in them as a byproduct of believing in own inherent worth and with that we will launch a long-term mentoring program for emerging adults as they scale walls no one can get over without a strong-handed boost.

Our cut of this award (we share this money with 50 orgs statewide) will allow us to set-off The Poder (power/I can) Leadership Collective, a youth development process based on the learnings of people who self-actualized in a world set up for their failure. This is the type “pa’lante” folks were talking about…
