Okay, we feel it is time to clean up some misconceptions about our store.
1 we are not affiliated with St Vincent de Paul or Bread and Blessings. We are two separate entities, and our store does not control Bread and Blessings. We may serve the same customers.
2. Our store owner works during the week at her weekday job, and will sometimes miss phone messages. She is regretful about that, and does her best to get back to who she can. She always encourages people to reach out via text or Facebook Messenger, which is easier for her to respond to, or you can always stop in at the store and ask questions.
3. We are beyond grateful for every donation that gets brought in, because we know that it is going to go back out the door to people who need it. This is neighbor supporting neighbor, which is what we encourage. The reason for the harshness of my tone in the video was because, yet again, people are bringing stuff to us after hours without calling beforehand to drop off items. This could get our store in trouble with the city, because it was in a public right away on the sidewalk. On top of that, the items that were donated were mildewy and moldy, which could present a health hazard to our volunteers, and we have no way of washing that large quantity of clothing and textiles that were in those bags.
4. We are not affiliated with MisFits.
5. We're not here for the drama. Mistakes will happen, and when they do, apologies are given accordingly.
6. Every person who busts their back at the store is a volunteer. None of us are paid. We have set hours and days, but being a small crew, sometimes those hours/days get altered. We may have outside obligations for our job, our health, or our families, that take precedence over the store. We do our best to notify people, but we can't reach everybody, and sometimes those changes occur last minute.
