🇺🇸 Never Forget — September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years ago, lives were changed forever.

On the night of September 10, 2001, people went to bed with plans for the next morning. They expected to wake up, get dressed, go to work, take their children to school, and continue living their everyday lives. No one knew that September 11 would become a day forever etched into history.

On that morning, thousands of innocent people lost their lives, families received devastating news, and countless lives were changed forever. First responders ran toward danger while others were running away. Firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens made the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to save others.

Today, 25 years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost.
We remember the heroes who answered the call.
We remember the families who were forever changed.
And we remember the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown during one of our nation’s darkest days.

Today and always, we will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those whose lives were taken far too soon.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — 25 Years Later. Never Forget. 🇺🇸

The Thomaston Fire Department would like to send our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Firefighter Bobby Taylor. We stand with our fire service family in the time of sorrow. Please send your prayers to the ones in need!

City of Thomaston
Monroe County Emergency Services - GA

With heavy hearts we are sharing that Firefighter Bobby Taylor passed away yesterday, surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be held Thursday, September 10th at Maynard Baptist Church at 1195 Juliette Road, Forsyth. Visitation with honors will be at 3pm, the Service at 4pm. Processional to the graveside service with honors immediately following.

Bobby was the epitome of a firefighter. Good-natured, always ready for a joke, always ready to go to the next call. Ready, Bobby was always ready. After retiring from a long career as a paid fireman, he slid right into still being a fireman as a volunteer. When bigger calls would get toned out, you just knew Bobby would be heading up to Station 1 to grab another apparatus to bring to the scene. He was quietly knowledgeable in all things on a fire scene. He was always ready to pitch in, grab tools, whatever was needed, and didn't matter what department you were with. Firemen are all brothers, no matter what the patch on your arm says.

Bobby will be so very missed around the station. He leaves a legacy of service, one that should be honored, and that will definitely be shared with all. Rest easy brother, we'll take it from here.

Crews responded to the 200 block of Beall Street in reference to a residential structure fire. Crews performed an offensive fire attack to bring the fire under control. Swift tactics kept the fire to the area of origin. Outstanding job to Shift 2 on a job well done!

In addition, appreciation goes out to all off duty personnel that assisted with ensuring that the City of Thomaston was still covered with personnel ready to respond to additional calls during the duration of this incident.

Honoring Firefighter Hunter Tucker 🚒❤️

The Thomaston Fire Department would like to recognize Firefighter Hunter Tucker for an incredible act of bravery and selflessness while on vacation with his family.

While enjoying time away from duty, Hunter was faced with an emergency when his wife and a child were caught in the ocean and in danger of drowning. Without hesitation, Hunter sprang into action and put his courage and instincts to work helping save the lives of both his wife and the child.

A firefighter’s commitment to protecting others doesn’t end when the shift is over. Hunter demonstrated that true courage and the will to help others are carried with you wherever you go.

We are proud to call you one of our own, Tucker. Your quick actions, bravery, and willingness to act when it mattered most are a true reflection of the character of a firefighter.

From everyone at the Thomaston Fire Department and City of Thomaston, thank you for answering the call—even when you weren’t on duty.

🔥 We appreciate you, Firefighter Tucker! 🔥
