You are invited! Three D1 universities will be presenting in Thomaston this week.
There is a special presentation at the Ritz Theater this Wednesday, May 6, from 11-2, (come and go or stay the whole time) for the UGA/Clemson students to present their ideas for revitalizing Thomaston.
This is the same group (UGA) who led the community re-envisioning session at Stonewell Church back in February.
Please come if you can. You will have the opportunity to visit with the students and discuss their findings and ideas.
How wonderful that we get to be a part of developing a healthy community for ourselves, our neighbors, and those moving here in the future!
Also, Georgia Tech will present the results of their housing study to the City Council Tuesday, May 5, at 6 pm at the Senior Center. Open to the public.

The City of Thomaston is partnering with the UGA College of Environment and Design and the Richard A. McMahan School of Architecture at Clemson University to explore ideas from the East Thomaston Urban Redevelopment Plan. UGA and Clemson students will visit Thomaston Jan 30–Feb 1, 2026, to conduct a design charrette — a collaborative, multi-day workshop focused on creative solutions for connectivity, preservation, and attainable housing. A community listening session will be held at Stone Well Nation on Saturday January 31st from 3-5pm so that citizens can provide input.
The attached survey will help both groups understand community sentiment on existing housing challenges and needed amenities within the East Thomaston area. We'd appreciate having your feedback by Sunday, Jan 25th, 2026.
