Rachael Lackey has been selected by State School Superintendent Richard Woods to serve on the 2026–2027 Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council!

The council brings together a select group of parents from across Georgia to provide input on policies, programs and resources that impact students and families, with a focus on strengthening parent and family engagement to support student success.

Rachael will have the opportunity to share her perspective and meet with the State Superintendent throughout her term. We’re proud to have her representing Thomas County Schools! 💙💛👏

✨🌟 A little stargazing, Cross Creek style! 🌟✨

Students in Ms. Cohen’s Science Specials class got creative while learning about constellations! They built constellation replicas using marshmallows and toothpicks, then designed their own constellations on cardstock and viewed them in a constellation box. 🌌🔭

Learning science is always a little sweeter when marshmallows are involved! 😉

🍂 It’s Fall, Y’all! 🧡

Before the break, students in Mrs. Holton’s art class at Thomas County Middle School were getting into the season with some fun fall-inspired projects! 🎨🍁

We hope everyone is enjoying a little time to relax, recharge and enjoy the break!

From academics and athletics to fine arts, CTAE, STEM, clubs and so much more, there’s a place for everyone here!

📌 Need to enroll? The Enrollment Office in Student Services will be open Monday, October 19, even though it’s a student holiday.

☀️🪐 Learning that’s out of this world! 🚀

Students took their solar system lesson outside to see just how far the planets are from the sun. Turns out, space is big! 🌎

We’re very proud of Thomas County Middle School teachers Brandi Clapper and Emily Hotchkiss, who were selected as Fellows for the 2026–2027 GA-ESTEEM pilot program! 🎉

GA-ESTEEM stands for Georgia-Elevating Science Teachers Excellence Everyday Matters and is a five-year, $4.9 million National Science Foundation-funded pilot program designed to support, strengthen and sustain K-12 science teachers across Georgia.

The program is focused on strengthening science instruction, building teacher capacity and developing current and emerging science teacher leaders. And with a significant number of teachers interested in participating, only a small group was selected for the pilot cohort.

We’re excited to see Mrs. Clapper and Mrs. Hotchkiss take advantage of this incredible opportunity to grow their expertise and bring new ideas and experiences back to their classrooms. Congratulations, ladies! We’re proud to have you representing TCMS and Thomas County Schools! 💙💛🔬
