Well Bucks Bass & Badges had an eventful morning in more ways than one!

This day was planned weeks in advance of hurricane Isaias so we thought we’d have to cancel. To be honest if it wasn’t for the kids my vote would’ve been to stay in bed. 😂

After studying the radar and knowing the stands the kids would be in were covered we decided to roll the dice on the hour or so window with no rain around 7am. It ended up being a great call and 2 of the 4 kids were able to harvest their first 🦌!!

All of the kids were excited and had plenty of Little Debbie’s to keep them occupied in the stand.

I think me and the rest of the “big kids” were more excited than the little ones. Being part of this program and involved in a kids first deer 🦌 harvest is memorable for all and hopefully the start of many more to come for these kids.

Still have plenty of deer season left to give the other 2 more opportunities to get their first as well. Can’t wait to see how it plays out!!

First step in Bucks Bass & Badges was hunters education certification which every hunter needs before they turn 16 to purchase a hunting license. DNR graciously agreed to come to the PD and teach the class that was open to the public as well as the kids in the class. We had a decent turn out, the kids received the certification and a special message from Uncle Ted himself.

We’re excited to share an upcoming opportunity to participate in the Citizen’s Police Academy! 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

This program gives community members a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement, including how officers serve our community, the training they receive, and the many responsibilities they handle every day.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to walk in an officer’s shoes, this is a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and build connections with the people who serve our community.
