I’m proud to share that $2.1 million was recently awarded to several conservation and recreational improvement projects in the 74th!

Projects that received funding include:

• $908,900 for the rehabilitation and further development of Ash Park in Coatesville. The work will include the renovation of a multipurpose field, pedestrian walkways, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, and more.

• $500,000 for the development of the Chester Valley Trail in Atglen Borough and West Sadsbury Township, Chester County and Sadsbury Township, Lancaster County. The work will include construction on one mile of trail from Noble Road to Main Street.

• $300,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Chambers Lake within Hibernia County Park in West Caln Township. The work will include the construction of a boat launch and dock, parking area, pedestrian walkways, ADA access, landscaping, and more.

From enhancing parks and recreational opportunities to expanding trails and protecting our waterways, these projects will benefit residents in multiple meaningful ways. I’m proud to advocate for these investments and help bring these improvements to our communities.

Over the past couple of years, my office has received numerous complaints about the increasing prices we are seeing everywhere, particularly from utility companies. Basic needs like water and electricity have become difficult to afford, especially for our seniors.

I’m grateful to announce that my House colleagues and I recently passed HB 2184, which would require the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to explicitly consider the public interest – including affordability and service reliability – when making decisions on utility rates.

I urge my colleagues in the Pennsylvania Senate to pass this legislation immediately so it can be signed into law, and so we can create more guardrails for the most vulnerable in our communities.

I was proud to speak before the about a resolution recognizing September 2026 as National Recovery Month in PA. Recovery Month is an opportunity to celebrate individuals in recovery and identify providers, treatment facilities, and family members and friends who all support them throughout their journey.

I’ll always be a champion for the most vulnerable people living in PA. Approximately 1.5 million Pennsylvanians are living with food insecurity and have limited access to nutritious food. With federal cuts to programs that help individuals afford these basic needs, recognizing Hunger Action Month is just the start at combatting this epidemic. What matters now is not what we know or say, but what we do. Now we must act based on the example of the many organizations across our commonwealth that lend a hand to those in need.

The Underground Railroad played a pivotal role in the route to freedom for many enslaved men and women. My joint resolution with Rep. Christina Sappey highlights the courage and bravery of these conductors as well as emphasizes PA’s critical role in providing stops for freedom.

Last week, I joined Gov. Shapiro, my fellow lawmakers, and business owners, to share the next step we’re taking to protect SNAP benefits from theft.

The 2026-27 budget allocated $7 million to modernize Pennsylvania’s SNAP program and transition to chip-enabled EBT cards, enhancing the card’s security and protecting Pennsylvanians who rely on SNAP to purchase food. The guidelines were outlined in my bipartisan bill with PA State Rep. Doyle Heffley, and I’m so proud to see the process to transition to chip-enabled cards underway.

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services anticipates that cards will begin to be automatically mailed to SNAP recipients starting in late Spring 2027. All SNAP recipients will receive a new, chip-enabled EBT card free of charge as part of this transition.

More specific details and the rollout timeline will be shared closer to distribution, so stay tuned!

No one should be forced to choose between putting food on the table and paying the bills.

As your state representative, I am committed to fighting hunger and supporting programs that provide nutritious meals and resources. Whether it’s volunteering at local food banks, donating to hunger relief organizations, or advocating for policies that address food insecurity, ever action counts.

There are many wonderful caring advocates and organizations working to fight hunger in our community. If you’re looking for more information about how you can help, check out the Chester County Food Bank: https://chestercountyfoodbank.org
