Cypress Cubs! Get your costumes ready for the Halloween Parade tomorrow, Oct 30th at 8:15am! You can come to school dressed in your Halloween costume over your clothes for the parade. Reminder, no masks, weapons, fake blood or anything gruesome.

Parents, loved ones and friends may view the parade from the quad, the blacktop behind yellow and red pods, as well as by classrooms as long as you do not block the path and flow of the parade (see map).

After the parade, students will need to change out of your costumes!

Today our TK classes learned all about street safety. Students had the chance to practice using a crosswalk in a fun and hands-on playground simulation. They did a great job learning how to cross safely!

Tomorrow Wednesday, October 21st, the CVUSD is proud to celebrate Unity Day!

Unity Day has been celebrated in the United States and around the world since 2011. It is the most well-known event of National Bullying Prevention Month, sponsored by Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center. To participate in Unity Day, individuals, schools, communities, and businesses wear or display orange to show support for students who have been bullied, in addition to sending the message that no child should ever experience bullying.

Cypress Cubs wear orange this Wednesday to send a visible message of commitment to kindness, acceptance and inclusion!

From our amazing PTA:

🎃🖤🧡 IMPORTANT UPDATE: TENT OR TREAT and PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST POSTPONED! 🧡🖤🎃

We are so sad to share that Cypress Tent or Treat, originally scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, October 16th, will be postponed due to the forecasted Red Flag Warning conditions, high winds, power outages, and extreme heat.

We know just how much time, creativity, and hard work our Cypress families put into making these tents such incredible, immersive experiences for our Cubs. From planning and building to decorating every little detail, SO much love goes into bringing this event to life! The last thing we want is to see all that hard work damaged or blown away by strong winds throughout the day.

We have spent time considering every possible option, including moving the event indoors. Unfortunately, with the high likelihood of power outages over the next 24 hours, an indoor event simply isn’t a viable alternative.

With other outdoor community events making similar decisions to cancel or postpone, we feel it’s important to put the safety of our Cubs, families, and volunteers first. 🧡

We are incredibly disappointed, and we know our Cubs will be too! But rather than risk the safety of our community or all the amazing work that goes into this special night, we’d much rather wait for better conditions so everyone can enjoy the event the way it was intended!

The good news? We’re postponing, not giving up! 🎃 We are working on a new date and will share those details as soon as possible.

The pumpkin decorating contest will also be postponed and will be rescheduled to the same updated date. NO PUMPKINS IN THE MPR TOMORROW! We’ll see them soon!

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and all the love you pour into making Cypress events so special. We can’t wait to celebrate with our Cubs when the weather cooperates! 🧡🖤
