Last week, we welcomed purveyors and regional partners to Calleguas for our quarterly Regional Legislative Group gathering. We’re proud to bring people together to collaborate, share insights, and advance efforts that strengthen water reliability and emergency preparedness across Ventura County.

Special guests at this meeting included Ventura County’s new Fire Marshal, Kylie Tillema, and staff from Ventura County Fire and the County Office of Emergency Services. We are grateful to these partners who took the time to inform us about the new AB 367 standards in development and have collaborated closely with water suppliers throughout the County on this issue.

We also took a moment to recognize Mina Layba, City of Thousand Oaks Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental Manager, with the “Bill of the Year” Award in recognition of her work on AB 1873. This legislation, signed by the Governor this year, builds upon AB 367, providing additional flexibility and easing compliance requirements related to backup power and wildfire preparedness for water suppliers.
