The votes are in, and the air rocket wins! 🗳️🚀

Mrs. White’s students held their own classroom election to choose a special playground activity: bubbles, chalk or an air rocket. Each child marked a ballot, placed it in the voting box and received an ‘I Voted’ sticker.

Then came the math: students graphed the results and counted the votes before taking turns with the winning rocket. They even discovered that jumping higher helped the rocket soar higher!

A fun way to practice making choices, counting, graphing and taking turns. 💙💛

Books, bingo and a few dinosaur-sized smiles! 📚🦖

Washington Elementary students took on the October Reading Challenge, completing reading activities on their bingo cards to earn a prize. Sixty students earned prizes for their efforts!

A special congratulations to first grader Penelope and kindergartener Nico, who completed every square on their cards to earn the coverall grand prizes. Penelope took home a paint-your-own dinosaur kit, and Nico won a dinosaur bubble toy!

Way to go, Washington readers! Thank you to the families and staff who help make reading fun. 💙💛

A mole with a mullet? That’s a “molett”! 🧪

Jeanette Marshall’s chemistry students at Columbian celebrated National Mole Day with projects inspired by the mole, a unit chemists use to count particles.

Their creations included painted pumpkins, a mole made from rope, mole-themed cake pops and even “Mrs. Marshmole.” Plenty of creativity and a little humor to help bring chemistry to life!

More fall fun from Washington Elementary! 🎃

Kindergarten students visited Jason's Pumpkin Patch in Oak Harbor, where they took a wagon ride, explored a corn maze and met animals. Each student also brought home a pumpkin and a coloring book.

We're also sharing a few more moments from Washington's Fall Festival, featuring Mrs. Wickham's students enjoying the activities.

Thank you to our staff and everyone who helped make these experiences possible for our students!

Sometimes, helping a child take the next step starts with meeting them where they are.

For Lindsey Distel, that approach has shaped her work from the preschool classroom to her role as TCS Director of Early Learning. In our latest Leading TCS feature, Lincoln families and staff share what her patience, preparation and belief in each child have meant to them.

Read “Making room to grow” on our website:

At Lincoln Pre-K, Lindsey Distel brings a teacher’s experience and a parent’s perspective to helping children grow.
