Tips for Driving in Heavy Rain - Tifton Police Department

10/04/2026

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: STANDING WATER ON ROADWAYS

Recent rainfall has caused standing water in some areas. Slow down, increase following distance, and use caution.

Never drive through water if you cannot see the roadway or determine its depth. Do not drive around barricades or road-closed signs. If you cannot tell how deep the water is, turn around and use another route.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
