Today marked the first of 3 Halloween stories we have planned for the rest of October! 🎃🕷️🍁🍂

Cat isn't a fan of Halloween... He doesn't like all the hustle and bustle and noise, so he left to find a quiet place to sleep outside.

But soon, Cat's favorite little witch came to find him and take him home again. She even gifted him a very special costume!

Today's craft was a cute bat... which was one of the characters in today's story!

A day late....

Thursday story time was all about Dragon Dog. Is he a dragon, a dog, or maybe a little of both? One thing we found out for certain... He was fierce and oh-so-fluffy! And he became one of the heros of this cute story!

Dragon faces were made by all, and suddenly many of the littles wanted dragon books to take home this week!

First October story time... First true autumn story.

Fall: A Seasons Story told the story of how the autumn air and changing seasons meant that Monarch Butterfly needed to fly south to warmer temperatures. She was tired, and her woodland friends all gathered round to help her build up her strength. Soon, she was ready to keep going and had to say "goodbye until spring" to her friends.

Everyone today left with their own monarch butterfly craft!

A very cute story today about a turtle and a beaver...who agree to have a race across the pond to decide who will get to live in that pond. Beaver might be the faster animal, but Turtle is clever nonetheless!

Seashell turtles were crafted by all the littles today!

Today was my first storytime in 3 weeks.. and it was fun indeed!

A newly released book about our friend, Little Blue Truck...while moving hay, he loses his friend Toad. All the animals on the farm joined in to help Blue look for toad, who actually was simply napping under the hay in the bed of Little Blue Truck!

We made our own little blue trucks and since I didn't have hay, we put autumn leaves in the beds of our trucks. 🍁🍂🍁🍂

Yesterday, Mary Soucie, state librarian from the North Dakota State Library , hand delivered our 2026 Star library plaque.

It has found its temporary home next to 2024 and 2025 on the desk in our youth section. I'm thinking they need a wall pretty soon!

This is how North Dakota is represented this week in Reno. Glad we got to see and interact with Mary Soucie, our state librarian!

Side note: we were told we are in the top 2 for most attendees by state here in Reno!

This group of North Dakota librarians are attending the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Convening in Reno, Nevada, this week! Topics covered include grant writing, library space and design, children's literacy, building strong community partnerships, and more
