The Tipp City Library began in 1923 as a collection of 1,500 books on the second floor of the old City Building, staffed only by volunteers. It was originally funded by the Women’s Civic Club, and then by local taxes in 1926, becoming a City library. In 1950, the land at the library’s current location was donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, after which neighboring properties were purchased. The library was dedicated at its present location in 1962. A children’s room was added in 1982, and the building went through another renovation creating the adult fiction and teen areas in 1991 with the teen area completed in 1996. Currently, the library collection consists of over 59,500 books, 4,500 movies, and 2,500 books on CD, plus 66 periodical titles. The Tipp City Public Library has been truly lucky in their caring and community-minded staff. Past and present Librarians/Directors include: Ann Shaffer, Lulu Cottingham, Catherine Kessler, Florence Cook, Caroline Weaver, Nancy Stottman McAlpin, Pat Liening, Mark Mabelitini, Anthony Orsini, and, since 2016, Lisa Santucci.

Help Shape Our Future

Apply for the Library Board of Trustee position beginning January 1, 2027. Applications are due October 8 .

Our library is more than books. It's a place where neighbors connect, children discover new worlds, and our community comes together. We need people who care about preserving everything that makes our library special while also helping us navigate future challenges, explore new opportunities, and find new ways to serve our growing and changing community!

Please visit our website and click on About and then Library Board of Trustees for the full job description and application process.

***If you are wondering why we can't share the direct link, blame Meta/Facebook. They are now charging pages like ours to share links. ***

Facebook, REALLY?!

Facebook is limiting Pages like ours to just TWO posts with external links per month. Want to share more? That'll cost us a monthly subscription.

As a publicly funded library, we don't think we should have to spend taxpayer dollars just to tell our community about FREE programs and resources. But here we are. 🙄

So, we need your help! Sign up for our monthly newsletters! We have separate newsletters for adults, teens, and children, delivered straight to your inbox. We promise not to spam you and stick to a monthly format.

You can sign up on our website under Programs and choose Adult, Children, Teen, or all three! I would provide the links, but, ya know! If you have trouble finding the link to sign up, email [email protected] and indicate which newsletters you would like to receive.

We'll still be here on Facebook, but we're not paying extra just to share links to the programs and services your PUBLIC library provides.

Help us spread the word! Share this post, tell your friends, and sign up for our newsletters so you don't miss a thing!

In solidarity with the Ohio Library Council.
