🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a new scam targeting family members of incarcerated individuals.@

Family members are receiving phone calls claiming their loved one may be eligible for release from jail on home detention. The caller then requests payment for equipment fees before the individual can be released.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM!

Please be advised that Community Corrections, law enforcement agencies, and the courts will NOT call family members requesting money over the phone for home detention equipment or release fees.

✅ Protect yourself and your loved ones:

* Do not send money or provide financial information to unsolicited callers.
* Do not trust callers simply because they know the name of an incarcerated family member.
* If you receive one of these calls, hang up and contact the appropriate agency directly using an official phone number.

📣 Promotion Announcement 📣

Sheriff Tebbe is pleased to announce the promotion and appointment of our new Jail Commander, Captain Jesse Wyrick. Capt. Wyrick started a new career in corrections in 2022 and has since willingly taken on multiple additional responsibilities at the ranks of Corrections Officer and Special Deputy for the betterment of the Jail Division.

It has been brought to our attention that a scam involving supposed staff of our Jail Division has returned. Scammers are calling family members of arrested individuals, claiming to be a part of our staff, and requesting money be sent to them for various reasons. They also ask for the money to be sent via Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal, or other various means. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Tipton County Sheriff's Office that is requesting any sort of payment for anything over the phone, please hang up immediately. Our staff will NEVER call and request payment via telephone for any reason.

Today, Sheriff Matt Tebbe and Deputy Gavin Hanson attended the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s 2026 Traffic Safety All-Stars Ceremony, where Deputy Hanson received an award for being a Traffic Safety All-Star. This award is presented to law enforcement officers who had 25 or more Operating While Intoxicated arrests in 2025. Please join us in congratulating Deputy Hanson for his commitment and efforts to make Tipton County a safer community for all.

We would like to congratulate Deputy Jordan Cree on his graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy! After 16 weeks of intense training, Deputy Cree returns to Tipton County where he will finish his field training for patrol. Congratulations Deputy Cree and welcome back.

Beginning on or after August 28th from 8pm-6am nightly.

Overnight lane and ramp closures are planned on State Road 28 at the U.S. 31 interchange in Tipton County. Crews are expanding the truck aprons in the center of the roundabout, making it easier for large vehicles to use.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to Cameron and Curt of Morrow Construction for their donation of training equipment, which will aid our agency in implementing the new physical fitness standards outlined by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.

Additionally, a special thank you to Shad and Chegar Manufacturing for donating a new drone to our unit, a valuable tool that has become essential in emergency operations including crash reconstruction and locating missing persons.
