Please consider helping one of our MTFD family members, Amery. Amery is a dedicated firefighter with MTFD and North Liberty and has been someone who jumped right in and became part of the team from day one.

Iowa’s FF Amery Clews was seriously injured in a hiking accident after falling approximately 200 feet down a mountain in Colorado. He is currently in the ICU in Colorado Springs receiving treatment for multiple broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, and a pneumothorax requiring a chest tube. He also...

Tonight’s training took us back to the basics, focusing on forceable entry. Our crews worked through the fundamentals of gaining access, understanding different door and lock systems, selecting the appropriate tools, and working efficiently as a team. We focused on proper tool placement, technique, and communication.

Tonight, MTFD trained on putting our new nozzle package into service. Our updated attack setup features an Elkhart Brass 7/8” smooth bore nozzle and HEN Turbo back pressure devices.

With lower-pressure nozzles, hose whip and kinking can become an issue but the HEN Turbo back pressure devices help control that, giving us a safer and more efficient fireground operation.

This upgrade marks a major step forward for our department. Smooth bore nozzles are simple, reliable, and highly effective for interior firefighting. The 50 PSI setup also reduces nozzle reaction compared to our previous 75 PSI nozzles, making it easier for a single firefighter to handle.

And as always, we had some fun while putting in the work.

Special thanks to Ketelsen RV for allowing us to use their parking lot, and to Hiawatha Fire Department for welcoming us into their city to train.

This morning the MT22FD family got together for our annual banquet. Today was a little different as we had a banquet breakfast hosted by Oscar's Restaurant in their event room. We are truly grateful for all that they have done for MT22FD… “Always On Call”!

We would like to thank the Alburnett Fire Dept and Alburnett Community Schools for allowing us to be a part of the educational opportunity. We always enjoy the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of CPR, Stop the Bleed, and Fire Safety.

Bacon is on the skillet! 🥓🍳

Take a guess in the comments how many fresh-cracked eggs we’ll use this year! We’ll be serving from 7–11 — come hungry and enjoy the best breakfast around. We can’t wait to see everyone! 👨‍🚒

Once again, MTFD would like to thankOscar's Restaurant for generously donating a large portion of the food for our fundraiser. It’s truly a great place to eat with even better owners and staff behind it.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

We’re excited to announce that we have officially entered into an Auto Aid Agreement with the Monroe Township Fire Department!

An auto aid agreement goes above and beyond a traditional mutual aid agreement. With mutual aid, additional departments are requested after crews arrive and determine they need more resources. With auto aid, both departments are dispatched at the same time on certain calls—like structure fires—ensuring help is already on the way from the very beginning.

Why this matters:

🚒 Faster Response Times
Auto aid eliminates the delay of requesting additional resources. More firefighters, apparatus, and water supply resources are en route immediately, which can make a critical difference in saving lives and property.

🔥 Stronger Fireground Operations
Having additional crews arriving early allows for quicker fire attack, search and rescue, ventilation, and water supply operations. This leads to a more organized and efficient incident scene from the start.

👨‍🚒 Improved Firefighter Safety
More personnel on scene early means crews can operate in teams, rotate more effectively, and reduce fatigue—helping keep everyone safer during high-risk incidents.

💧 Better Water Supply Capabilities
In areas without hydrants, early-arriving mutual resources are crucial for water shuttle operations. Auto aid ensures tankers and support equipment are already responding without delay.

📉 Lower Insurance (ISO) Ratings
Auto aid agreements can positively impact a community’s ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating. ISO evaluates fire protection capabilities, including response times, staffing, and available resources. By guaranteeing additional personnel and apparatus are dispatched immediately, auto aid strengthens our overall fire protection system—which can help lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses.

This agreement reflects our continued commitment to working together, improving service, and going above and beyond for the communities we serve.
