Dump & Drain – Empty standing water around your home to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

And don't forget to stay informed! Follow the TASD page for mosquito activity updates, prevention tips, and information on the work we're doing to help protect Lucas County from mosquito-borne diseases.

Ticks love a good walk as much as your dog does, so make sure to check them after every adventure! If you find a tick, you can submit it to TASD for testing at one of our drop boxes, like the one at Wildwood.

Each box has bags with unique ID codes that match the quick survey you’ll fill out when submitting. Your sample helps us track tick activity and keep our community safer.

They’re back!

It’s officially adult deer tick season, which means it’s a good time to brush up on a few simple ways to protect yourself and your family from ticks.

- Keep your lawn maintained. Ticks search for hosts in short vegetation and leaf litter, so keeping your lawn trimmed and clearing away accumulated leaves can help reduce tick habitat around your home.

- Always do a tick check after being outdoors. Be thorough! Check your scalp and hairline, behind your ears, armpits, behind your knees, belly button, and anywhere else that’s warm, dark, or sheltered. Ticks like to find those hidden spots.

- Don’t forget your pets! Your furry friends can pick up ticks too, so be sure to check them after they’ve been outside.

A few minutes of prevention and a thorough tick check can go a long way toward keeping you and your family safe!

Join us as we unbox our latest lab delivery, mosquito eggs!

Why are we ordering mosquito eggs? Because studying mosquitoes helps us better understand their development and biology, and all of that information helps inform the methods we use to control them!

Tick Tip! Clean Up Wood Piles

Got a pile of sticks or yard debris sitting in the corner of your backyard? It could be creating a cozy spot for ticks, and the wildlife they rely on.

Clearing away stick piles, brush, and other yard debris can help reduce places where ticks and their hosts like to hang out.

A tidier yard can mean fewer tick-friendly hiding spots!
