We want to say thank you and congratulations to author and historian Chris Enss for initiating our first film screening at Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park. Chris debuted her new, award-winning short film, According to Kate, based on her book of the same title.
Our team worked hard to transform the 1904 courtroom into an exciting movie screening experience and we thank all of the guests for attending the sold out event. After the film, attendees were lucky to witness and share in the collective joy that came from making and witnessing the film.
Congratulations to the talented cast and crew involved with making the film, According to Kate, especially Chris Enss!
We understand that folks would have liked the opportunity to register for the screening before we sold out and we thank you for understanding regarding the limited seating available. We’re happy to share that the event went so well, we plan to do it again next Spring. We will announce the dates as soon as they’re available.

The 97th annual Helldorado Days has officially started!
There’s Wild West entertainment all weekend long, similar to these well-dressed sharpshooters posed in front of the Crystal Palace in TC77-01-194.
We want to thank Terry Ike Clanton for correcting our previous post on the beginning year of Tombstone’s Helldorado Celebration.

Helldorado weekend is almost here! Did you know that Tombstone’s Helldorado days celebrations began before the 1930’s?
In this photo, TC77-01-064, you can see a Helldorado parade procession or stagecoach hold up reenactment with our beloved Courthouse in the distance.
We can’t wait to see you for Helldorado this year! We’re open 9 AM to 4:30 PM all three days. Please note that the courtroom area of the museum will be closed to the general public from 2:45 PM to close on Saturday, October 17th.

We can’t help but enjoy watching clouds rolling in on the horizon. Not simply for the shade and possible rain, but because they provide such a beautiful touch to the backdrop when photographing the original Cochise County Courthouse.

While doing inventory in the pioneer room we opened up some of the school books on display in the northeast corner display. Almost all of them had previously belonged to Charles Leonard Blackburn. The Blackburns were an early pioneer family in Tombstone, headed by patriarch Charles William Blackburn.
Charles Leonard Blackburn’s brother William was deported to Columbus, NM during the Bisbee Deportation. He was one of the very few deportees that would return to Cochise County. William was involved in the subsequent legal proceedings regarding the Deportation that took place here at the Courthouse. In 1918, William was photographed at his job working as a guard at Florence Prison.

The rumors are true!
We’re hosting a screening of the award-winning short film, According to Kate, on Helldorado Saturday.
Author, historian, and writer of the film Chris Enss has previously presented in our museum on topics like Big Nose Kate and women in the west. This time, she’s telling Kate’s story in a whole new way.
Fans and followers of Chris Enss and her cast and crew of this incredible film managed to sell out all available spots before we ever said a word about it! This won’t surprise anyone familiar with the exceptional work of Chris Enss.
Registration is *required* and the event is currently 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗢𝗨𝗧. You are welcome to add your name to the waitlist. Please note that joining the waitlist does not guarantee registration or attendance to the film screening.

Registered guests are asked to arrive as a group and prepare to confirm registration information at the front desk and at the courtroom entrance.
