MUSTANGS SHOW HEART IN TOUGH JAGUAR CLASSIC BATTLE!

BISBEE, AZ | OCTOBER 24, 2026

The HCS Mustangs A-Team battled hard Saturday afternoon in the Jaguar Classic Preseason Tournament at Bisbee High School but came up short against the St. David Tigers, falling 41–22.

Coming off an impressive 37–24 victory over Willcox on Friday, the Mustangs entered Saturday looking to keep the momentum rolling!

St. David came out firing, building an early lead and putting together a strong offensive run. But the MUSTANGS REFUSED TO BACK DOWN!

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!

The Mustangs finished 3-for-10 from the free-throw line (30%). Those missed opportunities proved costly, but they also highlighted areas we need to improve as we continue building toward the regular season!

SECOND-HALF FIGHT!

Despite facing a tough deficit, the Mustangs regrouped, increased their defensive intensity, and OUTSCORED St. David in the final quarter!

That’s the kind of HEART, HUSTLE, AND DETERMINATION we want to see from our boys! This team continues to fight, regardless of what the scoreboard says!

MUSTANGS GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

* Austin M. – 8 points, leading the Mustangs offensively!
* Adrian M. – 6 points, knocking down TWO three-pointers!
* Elijah V. – 4 points, contributing offensively!
* Jaxson M. – 3 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, battling strong on the boards!

NEXT UP: THIRD-PLACE SHOWDOWN!

TODAY | 4:30 PM | BISBEE HIGH SCHOOL

The Mustangs are back in action at 4:30 PM, looking to finish the Jaguar Classic on a HIGH NOTE! Standing in their way is the Benson Bobcats, who are coming off a tough loss to Bisbee by more than 20 points.

The Mustangs haven’t been able to knock off Benson in the past couple of years, but THIS TEAM IS HUNGRY TO CHANGE THAT! With third place on the line, the Mustangs have an opportunity to make a statement, end the tournament with a winning record, and prove they are ready to compete!

MUSTANGS MAKE A STATEMENT! HCS DEFEATED WILLCOX 37–24!

BISBEE, AZ – OCTOBER 23, 2026

The HCS Mustangs A-Team opened their 2026–2027 basketball season yesterday with an impressive 37–24 victory over the Willcox Cowboys in the Jaguar Classic Preseason Tournament at Bisbee High School!

The Mustangs came out ready to compete, using aggressive defense, teamwork, and strong offensive performances to secure their first win of the season. Despite missing a key returning player from last season, the boys stepped up and delivered a strong team victory!

MUSTANGS GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

Austin M. – 13 points, leading the Mustangs offensively!

Damien D. – 8 points, 3 steals

Adrian M. – 8 points, 3 steals

Jaxson M. – 4 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals

The Mustangs’ defensive pressure produced 11 steals, playing a major role in securing the victory!

TODAY’S SHOWDOWN: WINNERS’ BRACKET!

With yesterday’s win, the Mustangs earned a spot in the winners’ bracket, where they will face the St. David Tigers, who defeated Palominas in their opening game.

St. David defeated HCS twice last season, winning both games by 15 points. This time around, the Mustangs are looking to turn the tables and prove how much they’ve grown as a team!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2026

Location: Bisbee High School

HCS Mustangs vs. St. David Tigers – 12:45 PM

WIN: Advance to the Championship Game at 6:00 PM.

LOSE: Compete in the Third-Place Game at 4:30 PM.

For the first time in several seasons, the Mustangs entered the second day of the preseason tournament in the winners’ bracket instead of the consolation bracket! This is an exciting step forward for the program as the boys continue building confidence, gaining experience, and competing at a higher level.

We also want to wish Elias J. and Tyler C. the best of luck as they compete in their football championship game today. Bring home that championship, boys!

ONE TEAM. ONE FAMILY. ONE GOAL.

LET’S GO, MUSTANGS!
