PLEASE DIAL 9-1-1 or contact your local Police Department. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division consists of a 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), which answers 9-1-1 calls for all 33 of the municipalities in Ocean County and a full Public Safety Dispatch Operation. The operation is a consolidated communications center, serving multiple jurisdictions and disciplines. Law enforcement dispatch services are provided for the Sheriff's Office, Prosecutor's Office, Medical Examiner’s Office, and 12 municipal police agencies. Additionally, Fire Dispatch Services are provided for 39 fire companies, Emergency Medical Dispatch services for 22 first aid squads, and the dispatch of 3 special response and tactical teams. Paramedic and Life Flight dispatch is provided for the entire county. Our Communications Division is a two-stage operation with a dedicated call taker area and a separate dispatch area. The call takers communicate with the dispatchers through a computer-aided dispatch system (CAD). The County's public safety and public service communication needs are handled with the use of a 500 MHz Trunked Radio System. During the spring of 2001, a major upgrade of the dispatch center was completed with the upgrade of radios and consoles and the addition of two new dispatch consoles

Sheriff Mastronardy was at the Rutgers University Miller Center today and shared the room with a familiar face.

Retired Toms River Police Deputy Chief Michael Belcher, now an Inspector with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, joined Sheriff Mastronardy for today’s meeting.

The connection goes back more than 30 years. In 1994, while serving as Toms River’s Chief of Police, Sheriff Mastronardy hired Belcher right after he graduated from Rutgers. Today they returned to Rutgers together, both still serving the public.

Moments like this are a reminder of the lasting impact of mentorship and of the people who give their careers to public service.

On behalf of Sheriff Mastronardy, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office recognizes Columbus Day. This federal holiday commemorates the historic voyage of Christopher Columbus, whose arrival in the Americas in 1492 marked the beginning of a new chapter in our nation’s history.

As we reflect on this day, we also recognize the importance of exploration, perseverance, and the diverse history that has shaped our country. Columbus Day serves as a reminder of how far we’ve come as a nation, and the many communities and cultures that continue to make Ocean County and our country strong.

We’d also like to thank all of our Ocean County Sheriff’s Officers and county employees who continue to serve and protect our community, including on this holiday.

Officer Seiber served the people of Philadelphia for 10 years. He was a husband and a father of two, and he gave his life answering a call to keep others safe.

We are also keeping his partner, who was wounded, in our thoughts as they recover.

Our hearts are with the Philadelphia Police Department during this difficult time. We stand with you.

On behalf of Sheriff Mastronardy, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office recognizes World Mental Health Day. Stronger minds build safer communities, and mental health matters just as much as physical health.

This is a reminder that it's okay to ask for help. Check in on your loved ones — a simple conversation can make a big difference. Talk openly, and help end the stigma around mental health. Take time to practice self-care, because your well-being matters.

Help is available, and support is here. Together, we can build a healthier, stronger community.
