🪦 Discover Local History with the WNY Tombstone Trail 250!

The Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society is excited to kick off the WNY Tombstone Trail 250, a regional initiative celebrating America's 250th Anniversary in 2026. Supported by the Erie County Historical Commission, this project highlights 26 historic cemeteries across Western New York and the stories of the people who helped build our communities.

Explore four historic Town of Tonawanda cemeteries at your own pace:
📍 St. Peter's Cemetery
📍 North Bush Cemetery
📍 Failing Cemetery
📍 Werkley Cemetery

Look for the QR code stakes marking featured gravestones, scan with your smartphone, and discover fascinating stories of pioneer families, immigrants, veterans, farmers, and community leaders who shaped Tonawanda's history.

Whether you're interested in local history, genealogy, or simply enjoy exploring unique places, the WNY Tombstone Trail 250 offers a meaningful way to connect with our shared heritage.

History is waiting just beyond the cemetery gate!

To learn more about all 26 participating cemeteries, visit the WNY Tombstone Trail 250 website and follow WNY Tombstone Trail 250 on Facebook.
