We are currently updating the Tooele County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan (PDMP) for 2026. This plan serves as a federally mandated framework to help our local communities prepare for natural disasters and qualify for federal grants.

Public participation is a key requirement for this process and helps local leadership prioritize mitigation efforts and enhance community safety.

Please take a few moments to share your concerns and experiences regarding natural hazards in your area.

We recently apprehended individuals involved in numerous vehicle burglaries that occurred at and near the Cove Apartments. If you are missing any property, please call (435) 882-8900 and ask to speak to our evidence technician to retrieve any stolen items that belong to you.

Due to the continuous lightning and rain, the Tooele High School homecoming parade has unfortunately been cancelled.

We had the honor to be recognized at last Friday nights football game at Deseret Peak High School. They held a commemorative event, in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago. We were able to participate in the coin toss and a special halftime event, along with the Tooele County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center, Tooele City Fire Department, and Mountain West Medical Center (EMS). We want to give our most heartfelt thanks to the staff, cheerleaders, football team, and student section at DPHS for making this night as memorable and touching as it was. Chants of "USA, USA, USA" were belted out by the student section while they were waving red, white, and blue glow wands. The future is bright and in good hands when you have students like DPHS has! We live in an amazing community, and moments like this bring us hope in our rising generation. Fly Golden Eagles Fly!

25 years ago, we made the promise to never forget. Today, we are reminded of the promise and continue to remember the sacrifices made that day by heroic firefighters, brave police officers, relentless medical personnel, and everyday ordinary people who made extraordinary decisions to put the lives of others before their own. To all the sacrifices made that day, we reaffirm our promise to never forget.

This year is especially significant as we mark the 25th Anniversary of that dreadful day — September 11, 2001.

❤️ 25 years later, we remember.
👨‍🚒 We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
🇺🇸 We remember the heroes.
🤝 And we come together as a community to Never Forget.

Ceremonies begin at 8:00 AM, followed by our walk from Veterans’ Memorial Park to the Tooele High School Football Field.

The victim from yesterday’s homicide has been identified as 37 year old, Tooele City resident, Silvia Bahena-Mota. As the family navigates this tragic loss of life, we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy to all who have been affected by this.

On 31 August 2026, just before midnight, emergency calls reported gunshots in the area of Kings Landing Road and Emma Lane. Tooele City Police officers responded and encountered 37-year-old Daniel Ruesga. Officers also located a deceased 37-year-old female.

Mr. Ruesga has been taken into custody and booked into the Tooele County Jail in connection with this case. There are no ongoing threats to the public at this time in regards to this incident. This is an active and ongoing investigation. If information becomes available for release, it will be updated on our page.

Come out to Tooele High tonight for the annual 911 Community Bowl flag football game! Proceeds raised from each year’s game and silent auction go to support different charitable causes that arise in our community. This year, the proceeds will be used to help remove financial barriers that could otherwise make it difficult for youth to participate in their sport of choice. Come out and support us as we compete for flag football bragging rights while supporting a great cause!
