With less than 5 days left till voter registration closes, it’s important that our community gets out to not only vote but ensures that our vote is counted.
This year, we face unique challenges where voter registration lists are having voters removed—and our populations are most at risk.
If you haven’t already, check, double-check, triple-check your voter registration has been completed or updated on the Kansas Secretary of State’s webpage at: https://sos.ks.gov/elections/voter-registration.html
In Kansas, registering to vote is simple and may be done by filing a paper document or online. Anyone who is a US citizen, 18 years or older, a resident of Kansas, and has completed the terms of any sentence from a felony conviction, is legally qualified to vote. Per state law, the voter registration books close 21 days before an election until the election is completed. Any registrations received in that period will not be processed until after the election.
You can also visit the VoterView tool at: https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView
These online resources are an easy way to make sure you register to vote, update your voter registration, search polling locations near you, and ensure anyone who has completed a felony sentence, or is in the military, or an overseas citizen can double-check their registration.
We don’t know who will remain on the list and who has been or will be removed without notice. So, before the voter registration deadline on October 13th, check that you are on the list to have your vote counted!
