Cowlitz County Fire District #3

10/02/2026

Thanks to the Cowlitz County Sherrif's office and our little community, the stolen gear has been returned to the station.
Thank you for the shares and tips.

If you know these, people please reach out to us.
Or encourage them to do the right thing and return the gear they took.

We are thrilled to announce a major upgrade to our emergency services: Cowlitz County Fire District 3 has hired our very first full-time paramedic!

Until now, our department has operated on an all-relief medic system.
While our dedicated relief staff has served us incredibly well, adding a permanent full-time paramedic to our ranks marks a massive step forward in our community's safety.
Welcome Medic Schaffer!

We are proud to have our intern in this class and one of our relief employees joining him.
Good luck to EMTs Lucas and Brynn in your next steps and working toward your Fire Fighter 1 certs!

* Prohibited: All outdoor debris burning and campfires.
* Allowed: Self-contained propane or natural gas stoves and fire tables.

Due to air quality concerns, we may have missed some of you at our open house yesterday. Thanks to those who braved the smoke and made it out!

For those that didn’t make it…..

Did you know that public safety vehicles 🚒 need to be replaced more often than personal vehicles? 🚙
Due to the nature of their work and the precious cargo they hold, they are held to a higher standard.

Fire District 3 has had a 1997 van-style ambulance as the backup ambulance for many years, and it’s time for old Aid 32 to retire.

Introducing her replacement! 🎉

A beautiful 2026 Ford E-450 ambulance. It features a high-output engine, heavy-duty suspension, automatic chains to better reach emergencies in the snow, advanced driver-assist safety tech, and integrated power-load stretcher systems, designed to serve its community safely and reliably for roughly 8 to 10 years or up to 150,000–200,000 rigorous miles.

Welcome to the fleet Medic 31!
