Early this morning the Broadwater Rural Fire Dept
Had a structure fire at approximately 6am this morning at Kelly LN off of canton. The fire dept and ambulance crew responded with in 8 minutes.
Upon arrival the back of the house had fire showing. Crews worked hard and fast to get the fire under control. The trailer house is still standing but is a total loss. The occupant was able to get out with there 3 dogs. From all of us first responders are heart goes out to the people affected by this terrible situation. Now if I can take a moment and remind everyone. It may seem like it’s taking forever but we do not live at the station we are coming from are homes or places of work and we all still have to obey the traffic laws. Just know we are trying are best to get to you quickly we would also like to thank the Broadwater County sheriffs office for all the help.

As everyone was out enjoying there weekend Broadwater Rural Fire was doing there refresher class Wednesday night then this weekend are new recruits spent from Friday night till noon on Sunday learning wild land fire fighting and shelter deployment. We spend are time training and sharping are skills to better help the community we serve and protect. We would like to give a shout out to the DNRC for putting on a great class

With blizzard and white out conditions from the silo bar area up through Winston to Lewis and Clark County we strongly advise no travel unless absolutely necessary. We just got back from a multiple slide offs in the area fortunately no one had severe injuries please be safe out there

Last night we had are second structure fire of the year. Everyone that lives at this house was out of the house when it started and they are safe. The Red Cross was also notified to help them find temporary living. I would like to thank the dispatchers for a speedy page out and all the law enforcement that helped hookup the hydrant to helping drag hose. And the ambulance for being on standby and helping with fire fighter rehab and lastly I would like to thank the response from Broadwater rural fire

Broadwater County Rural and Townsend City Fire Departments are seeking individuals to join our team. There will be an informational meeting held after our monthly business meeting at 7 pm Thursday 2/1/24 at the Townsend Fire Station at 130 South Cedar St. Call Ed with any questions at 406 949 5535.

There is a Mudd slide up deep creek canyon please avoid. Travel in that area until it has been cleaned up. We will continue to monitor this situation and update when we can.
