Carnegie SVRA Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area Vehicle Tracks and Trails: Carnegie offers more than 1,000 acres for riding.
(1127)

About half of the SVRA has open riding with no designated trails. The other half is designated as trails only. Some trails are single track and are too narrow for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The park has a motocross track open to dirt bikes only, an ATV and dirt bike track, a beginner track designated for vehicles with small engines up to 70cc displacement, and a 110cc track for young riders. Trails in the hills are not designed for large 4-wheel drive vehicles including golf carts and RUVs. There is a 4x4 play area located on the east end of the park for these vehicles. Terrain: The landscape at Carnegie is characterized by dry rocky washes, rolling hills, and steep, rugged canyons offering a variety of terrain for riding, including some extremely challenging hills. Park elevations range from 650 to 1,750 feet above sea level, providing some spectacular views. The climate is typical of the central valley. Dry summers bring strong onshore breezes through Corral Hollow Canyon and winter rainfall fills the small ponds located in the park. Nature Viewing: While mostly oak grasslands, the park is home to an impressive display of spring wildflowers and some special California native plants. Slow down to see a wide range of animal life, including road runners, golden eagles, black-tailed deer, and bobcats. For information on other SVRAs, go to:

There's a heat advisory in effect until Friday night. Eww. Stay cool and stay hydrated.

The heat is a good reminder that wildfires can happen any time heat and dry grass mix. Do your part to prevent the hills of Carnegie from going up in flames! 🔥

Maintain your spark arrestor and never rest your bike on dry grass. The low end of equipment heat is 300 degrees, which is still enough heat to cause wildfires.

We could be in for a storm heavy winter, so we're getting prepared now by cleaning out several basins around Carnegie SVRA. ☔

Our basins are below the Corral Hollow Watershed and help keep sediment flow from overwhelming Corral Hollow Creek. Scan the QR code to learn more about Carnegie's Storm Water Management Plan.

Put away your boat and get ready to ride! As we get into riding weather, the Motocross Track will be closed every Thursday for grooming.

Our Motocross Track is designed to provide a safe riding experience for all skill levels. We understand adding a higher difficultly level would make it more enjoyable for some, but CA State Parks are for all.

Enjoy the 1300 acres of riding area on Thursdays!

🕸Tarantula season is here and what better way to search the hills of Carnegie SVRA than riding! 🕷

Meet at the kids track and we'll ride up Kiln Trail in search of tarantulas and burrows! Everyone is welcome, so bring the whole family. Before we hit the trail, you'll discover what to look for so you never miss a tarantula again.

You do need to bring your own ride and safety gear. Temperature will be in the low 80s but that feels way hotter out here, so remember your water. If you need a little air in your tires, stop by the air station at Moto Plus near the food truck.

Everybody loves donuts...people just don't like it when donuts damage cars or cause injury. 🍩

There is plenty of room up in the hills to do donuts, and you'll get amazing views at the same time. Recommended locations are below Training Hill at the top of West Pottery, the large open patch on Franciscan Loop, the top of Water Tank, and so many more!

Where you cannot do donuts is on the main road. Doing donuts along the main road, or in adjacent parking areas causes major damage to cars and injuries to other riders. It's also the biggest cause of fights between riders!

Let's work together to build a rider community at Carnegie SVRA. 🏍
