Grand Traverse County Animal Control This page is dedicated to helping lost dogs found by GTCAC Officers reconnect with their owners and to help dogs find loving homes through adoption.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department's (GTCHD) Animal Control Division offers our community services such as dog adoptions, reuniting dogs with their owners, animal welfare checks, kennel inspections, picking up stray dogs, and dog licensing. Our officers also collaborate with area rescues, fosters, and the Cherryland Humane Society to find dogs their forever home.

🐾 Meet Sitka! 🐾

This beautiful 3-year-old Husky mix is as sweet as they come! ❤️

Sitka is a gentle girl with a soft voice, a big heart, and a personality that makes her easy to fall in love with. She knows her basic commands, is eager to please, and loves learning new things. She’s got the Husky looks without all the Husky sass! 😉

🌲 If you love the outdoors, Sitka is your girl! Whether it’s hiking trails, exploring new places, or simply playing in the backyard, she’s happiest when she’s outside enjoying life.

Sitka also does well with other dogs when given proper introductions.

❤️ One thing to know about Sitka: During a week long getaway out of the shelter with a family, we learned that she struggles with some separation anxiety when left home alone. She’s going to need a family willing to give her patience, reassurance, and time to adjust to her new routine. Someone who is home often, can help her gradually build confidence being alone, or has another dog who may help ease her anxiety and keep her company would be ideal.

Sitka has so much love to give and wants nothing more than to be someone’s loyal companion. She’s smart, sweet, adventurous, and ready to find a family who will love her just as much as she’ll love them.

🐾 Come meet Sitka and see for yourself what a special girl she is!

🐾🎤 SNOOP D-O DOUBLE G IS IN DA HOUSE! 🎤🐾

Drop it like it’s hot… unless it’s a tennis ball, then you better throw it! 🎾🤣

At 8 years young, this handsome Shepherd mix is still living the good life, Snoop style! 😎

Snoop is a BIG, STRONG boy who loves EVERYONE! ❤️ He’s all about his daily strolls, chasing tennis balls, and keeping things izzle wherever he goes!

He may have a little gray on his muzzle, but don’t let that fool you. This boy still has plenty of energy and isn’t ready to trade his walks for naps on the couch just yet!

Snoop’s looking for his forever crew, a comfy crib to call his own, and someone who knows the importance of a good game of fetch! 🎾🏡

🐶 Come meet Snoop D-O Double G at Grand Traverse County Animal Control!
