PERSONAL PREPARATION IS CRITICAL
State and local government agencies DO NOT have the resources to perform individual evacuations. YOUR SAFETY AND SURVIVAL WILL ALSO DEPEND ON YOUR PERSONAL PREPARATION AND ACTIONS!
PREPARE NOW
• Identify higher ground and know how you will get there.
• Prepare a Go Kit with medications, identification, important documents, water, food, clothing, flashlights and phone chargers.
• Make a plan for children, older adults, people with mobility needs, pets and livestock.
• Keep vehicles fueled and phones charged.
• If you live near a river, creek, arroyo, drainage area or low-water crossing, be especially alert.
• Monitor official weather and emergency notifications.
IF FLOODING THREATENS
Do not wait for water to reach you. Move to higher ground and follow instructions from emergency officials.
Never drive or walk through floodwater. Roads beneath the water may be damaged or completely washed away.
TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
VISITORS
If you are camping, staying in an RV or unfamiliar with the area, identify higher ground and an alternate route now. RVs, campers and trailers can take additional time to move, so consider relocating early if you are in a flood-prone area.
A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your location, take immediate action.
PREPARE NOW. STAY ALERT. GET EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS. BE READY TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
