πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈ CARE PACKAGE DRIVE FOR SGT. BRANDON McCANN β€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

One of our own is serving far from home.

Sgt. Brandon McCann, a Tripoli Ambulance member, is currently deployed to Poland with the U.S. Army. While he is away serving our country, we'd like to show him that his Tripoli Ambulance family and community are thinking of him.

We are collecting care package items, letters, and monetary donations to help cover shipping costs and purchase requested items for Brandon and fellow service members in his unit.

πŸ“¦ Our first care package is scheduled to be sent later this week in hopes that it arrives in time for Halloween. We also plan to send additional packages in early November and early December so Brandon and his fellow service members can receive a little piece of home around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

πŸ“ Donations and items may be dropped off at Tripoli City Hall during normal business hours or given to any Tripoli Ambulance member.

πŸ’™ Monetary donations can be made using the QR code on the flyer or by texting BRANDONCARE to 53-555.

Suggested items include: β€’ Beef Jerky
β€’ Trail Mix
β€’ Protein Bars
β€’ Candy & Gum
β€’ Coffee & Tea
β€’ Drink Mixes
β€’ Toiletries
β€’ Playing Cards
β€’ Puzzle Books
β€’ Notes from Home

Every package, letter, and donation serves as a reminder that his hometown supports him, appreciates his service, and is thinking of him during his deployment.

Thank you for helping us support one of our own. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈ

πŸš‘ Meet Our Newest EMT: Tyler Simon! πŸš‘

Please join us in congratulating Tyler Simon, Tripoli Ambulance’s newest member, who earned his EMT certification earlier this year!

Tyler grew up in Farley, graduated from Western Dubuque High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Iowa State University. He currently works as an agronomist with ServiTech, scouting fields and collecting soil samples.

Inspired by his father’s service as an EMT, Tyler saw the difference EMS volunteers can make in their communities. When he learned Tripoli needed additional daytime and weekend coverage, he stepped forward to help fill that need.

Outside of work and EMS, Tyler enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, attending races, and relaxing with family and friends on the porch or patio. A fun fact about Tyler: his family owns a business that builds fire trucks, where he spent much of his high school years working!

We’re grateful to have Tyler on the Tripoli Ambulance team. Please help us welcome him and thank him for serving our community!

Tripoli Ambulance Receives Community Foundation Grant for Patient Lift Equipment

TRIPOLI, IA – Tripoli Ambulance Service has received a $4,200 grant from the Bremer County Community Foundation to purchase two Binder Lift systems that will help improve patient safety and reduce lifting injuries among EMS personnel.

The new equipment includes both standard and bariatric Binder Lift devices, which are designed to assist emergency responders in safely lifting and moving individuals who have fallen or are unable to get up independently.

Falls are one of the most common reasons EMS agencies are called to assist community members. In many cases, patients do not require transportation to a hospital but do need help getting safely back to a chair, bed, or standing position. Traditionally, these situations often required EMS personnel to manually lift patients, creating a significant risk of back, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal injuries for responders.

The Binder Lift system addresses this challenge by providing a secure lifting harness that is placed around the patient. Responders can then use proper body mechanics and designated lifting handles to safely raise and reposition the patient while maintaining dignity and comfort.

"The Binder Lifts will be a valuable addition to our service," said Tripoli Ambulance representatives. "They help protect both our patients and our crew members by making lifts safer and more controlled."

The bariatric model is specifically designed to assist larger individuals, ensuring that all patients can receive the same level of safe and effective care regardless of size. Having both standard and bariatric versions available allows Tripoli Ambulance crews to better meet the needs of the communities they serve.

As a volunteer-based rural EMS service, Tripoli Ambulance relies heavily on community support and grant funding to acquire specialized equipment. The purchase of the Binder Lift systems would not have been possible without the support of the Bremer County Community Foundation.

Tripoli Ambulance extends its sincere appreciation to the Bremer County Community Foundation for investing in local emergency medical services and helping keep both patients and responders safer.

The equipment will be used to safely assist individuals who have fallen or are unable to stand without assistance while helping reduce the risk of lifting injuries to EMS personnel.

Tomorrow at 7:46 a.m CST., America changed forever.

Twenty-five years ago, first responders ran toward danger while others sought safety. They answered the call without hesitation, demonstrating extraordinary courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

As members of the EMS community, we pause to remember those who were lost and honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS providers, and everyday citizens who became heroes that day.

Their legacy continues to inspire our commitment to serve others.

πŸˆπŸš‘ Getting Ready for Sports Season! πŸš‘πŸˆ

Last week, Tripoli Ambulance Service members participated in a sports injury training session to help prepare for the upcoming football and athletic seasons. Hands-on training like this helps ensure our EMTs are ready to respond quickly and effectively when injuries occur on the field, court, or track.

A special thank you goes out to our volunteer "patients" from Tripoli Community Schools who helped make this training a success:

βœ… Blaine Bucknell
βœ… Braxton Bucknell
βœ… Bryce Matt
βœ… Taylor Mueller
βœ… Brynn Mueller

Their willingness to step in and assist with realistic training scenarios gave our crews valuable experience and made the training much more effective.

We appreciate these outstanding student-athletes for donating their time and helping us better serve our community. Best of luck to all Tripoli athletes as the fall sports season gets underway!
