HOLY SHYTTE.
HOLY SHYTTE.
HOLY SHYTTE.
We are completely blown away by the generosity, support, laughter, questionable decisions and pure SHYTTE-NANIGANS that came out for the 8th Annual Shytte Creek Bridge Walk.
A simple “thank you” does not even begin to cover it.
To every single bridge crosser — old, new, local, visitor, accidental participant and innocent bystander who got sucked into the Shytte Show — THANK YOU.
Whether you live right here in Trout Lake…
Planned your entire weekend around crossing a bridge that is approximately 40 feet long…
Drove hours just to come Give a Shytte with us…
Or stumbled across the whole thing, wondered what in the hell was happening, and somehow ended up with a Shytte Creek shirt, a burger, a lawn chair and several new friends…
YOU WERE PART OF IT.
And you SHOWED UP.
You crossed the bridge.
You threw co****le bags like money and family pride were on the line.
You bought Shytte.
You bid on Shytte.
You ate.
You danced.
You laughed.
You donated.
You volunteered.
You made some questionable decisions.
And most importantly…
YOU GAVE A SHYTTE. ❤️
This whole ridiculous tradition started in 2018. We have all heard the jokes that start with “Two guys walk into a bar…” Well, that is just how this story begins. With a few drinks, a conversation about the Mackinac Bridge Walk and an idea that Trout Lake deserved a bridge walk of its own.
A much, much shorter one.
Eight years later, people are actually planning trips, buying merch and gathering by the hundreds to proudly cross approximately 40 feet of wooden glory. It has become something truly special.
Underneath all the jokes, the shirts, the co****le, the music, the boots, the b**r and the general chaos is what Shytte Creek has always really been about:
COMMUNITY.
The proceeds from the Shytte Creek Bridge Walk go right back into the Trout Lake community and local nonprofit organizations.
That is why we do this.
That is why your support matters.
And that is why we are so unbelievably grateful to every volunteer, donor, sponsor, business, musician, auction donor, bridge walker and person who helped make this year happen.
What started as a simple idea has turned into eight years of laughter, friendship, generosity and giving back.
8 YEARS OF GIVING A SHYTTE.
Eight years of crossing 40 feet like we just conquered the Mackinac Bridge.
Eight years of people coming together.
Eight years of proving that a little humor, a lot of heart and a whole bunch of people who Give a Shytte can do some pretty incredible things.
THANK YOU.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for supporting Trout Lake.
Thank you for keeping this tradition alive.
And thank you for continuing to GIVE A SHYTTE. ❤️💩
At the heart of where all of this began, there is one person we carry with us every year.
In loving memory of Robert H. Mowery
1957–2021
One of the original Shytte Creek troublemakers.
One of the reasons this tradition exists.
And someone we wish more than anything could see what this little idea has grown into.
Robert, we hope you had the best seat in the house.
We miss you.
We love you.
And we’ll keep crossing that damn bridge for you. ❤️
