Today, our firefighters currently enrolled in the Technical Rescue course had the opportunity to put their classroom knowledge into practice through hands-on training. The firefighters demonstrated their skills by ascending ropes, transitioning to lowering devices, and safely lowering themselves to the ground.

Upon successful completion of the course, these firefighters will earn their certification as Rescue Technicians, further enhancing our department’s ability to respond effectively to technical rescue incidents.

Firefighters participating are as follows:

A-Shift:
Engine 1 - Ian Barker
Engine 2 - Easton Nichols
Engine 3 - Jake Masi, Joshua Chaney

B-Shift:

Today, A-Shift had the opportunity to participate in specialized training focused on natural gas fire incidents. This training is being conducted across all three shifts to ensure that every firefighter has the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience with this less-common type of emergency.

Training on these unique incidents helps strengthen our skills, preparedness, and ability to respond effectively when faced with a natural gas fire.

We would like to thank Enbridge for the opportunity and the information given to us!

As the day comes to an end, the flag is lowered and carefully folded away. The on-duty crew gathers together, reflects on the day, and shares stories before settling into their own routines for the night. At 8:00 a.m. the following morning, the incoming crew will arrive to relieve them and begin the next shift.

For 343 FDNY firefighters, that familiar routine was taken from them on September 11, 2001.

Every morning, firefighters across our country walk into their firehouses with the same sense of duty and commitment—prepared to face whatever challenges the day may bring. They do so knowing the risks, yet willing to answer the call when their communities need them most.

We will continue to honor the 343 with our words, but more importantly, through our actions.

We honor their service. We remember their bravery. We will never forget their sacrifice.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost that day.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten.

We also remember the families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.

We will never forget.

Along with those lost that day, we continue to keep those affected by 9/11 related illnesses in our prayers.

From all of us here at Troutman Fire-Rescue, we honor the fallen, remember the heroes, and continue to carry their spirit of service forward.

September 11, 2001 — Always Remembered. Never Forgotten.

This morning at 5:00am, C-Shift personnel were alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident on I-77 in the Northbound lane at exit 45. While en-route, an update was transmitted that stated there are multiple vehicles involved with one vehicle on fire. Engine 1 arrived on scene first and confirmed the report. Rescue 1 arrived on scene seconds behind Engine 1 and both companies immediately went to work on fire attack and assisting Iredell County Emergency Medical Service with patient care. Due to a ruptured fuel tank, Engine 2 and Tanker 1 were requested to the scene to aid in fire suppression. The scene still remains active with different agencies on the scene. If possible, avoid travel in that area.
