🚨 $800 TAX CREDIT FOR VOLUNTEER FIRST RESPONDERS — LEGISLATIVE UPDATE! 🚒🚑
Governor Hochul has signed legislation (A.6790-A) that would increase the tax credit for New York’s volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers from $200 to $800!
Here in the 107th Assembly District, our communities rely on the dedication of volunteer first responders every single day.
From Sand Lake and Schodack to Brunswick, Bethlehem, Easton, Kinderhook, Chatham, and the many rural communities throughout our district, these men and women leave their families, jobs, and dinner tables to answer the call when their neighbors need help.
They spend countless hours training, responding to emergencies, and protecting our communities — all without a paycheck.
Unfortunately, our volunteer departments face serious challenges recruiting and retaining members. We need to do more to support those who give so much.
Increasing this tax credit to $800 — and up to $1,600 for married couples when both qualify — is a meaningful step in the right direction.
I’ve been a strong advocate for our volunteer fire and ambulance services, and I remain committed to finding long-term solutions to keep these essential services strong for future generations.
Thank you Governor Hochul for signing this important legislation into law.
To every volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker across AD107: THANK YOU for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to our communities!
