Statement from the Fire Chief
On behalf of the members of the Speigletown Fire Company, I would like to provide the public with an update regarding a structure fire that occurred on July 20th, 2026. At approximately 2:13pm the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety 911 dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 100 Farrell Road, The Capitol Combat Zone.
Upon receiving the alarm, firefighters responded immediately and arrived to find heavy fire conditions. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive exterior fire attack. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our firefighters and our mutual aid partners, the fire was brought under control, preventing further spread to nearby properties.
At this time, our thoughts are with the owners and staff of Capitol Combat Zone, and everyone affected by this incident.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety Fire Investigators. Fire investigators have deemed the fire to be electrical in nature.
I would also like to thank our firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement, dispatchers, mutual aid departments, and utility crews for their professionalism and dedication throughout this incident.
