🎄 Tree of Hope 2026: Final Sign-Up Reminder! 🎄

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, is the LAST DAY to register for Tree of Hope!

9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Tree of Hope is open to eligible Montgomery County families with children from birth through 5th grade, including public, private, charter, and homeschool students, as well as infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

✅ Please bring:
• Photo ID
• Proof of income for all adults in the household, such as a W-2, two recent pay stubs, or other income documentation
• Your child’s clothing sizes and Christmas wishes/needs list

Eligibility is based on federal income guidelines.

A HUGE Thank You 🫶 to all of our local child care facilities & community partners who came out last night for the Parent Information Session for Wescare families! We so appreciate your willingness to respond on such short notice and your ongoing commitment to Montgomery County's children & families!

Parents: In case you were not able to stop by... please see the attached information shared last evening and if you are still looking for child care or afterschool options, you can reach out to Ebony Peterkin, our regional Community Resource Liaison, for a personalized referral (contact info on flyer) or you can lookup more details about any licensed child care provider in the state at findchildcarenc.org or ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/childcaresearch.

Also, please call or come see us at the Montgomery County Partnership for Children. We'll do our best to help answer any questions and would love to tell you about the other resources we have for you and your children.

Like so many throughout our county, we were very sad to learn of the upcoming closure of WesCare Center for Children (Wescare Kids) in Troy and its accompanying, licensed WesCare After-school Program.

With much appreciation to Montgomery County's other licensed child care providers and our community partners for their quick response, (MCPC) will host an Information Session for families directly affected by this closure, next Wednesday evening, October 7, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at the Partnership for Children office (404 N. Main St., Troy, - across from The Mercantile.)

This is a drop-in opportunity to talk, in-person, with representatives from several local child care providers & related programs. No RSVP is needed - just stop by with your questions and we'll do our best to help you learn more about the available options and navigate your next steps.

Good news for Montgomery County families and child care providers!

North Carolina put $97 million in recurring federal funds toward child care subsidy rates and set a statewide floor. As of October 1, licensed providers get at least the statewide average rate for subsidized care no matter what county they're in.

Smaller and rural counties have been reimbursed at lower rates for years. Some centers couldn't afford to take subsidy at all. A floor changes that math.
For families, it means better odds the center down the road can keep its doors open to you.

Today is a new day for child care in North Carolina. And the country.

Effective today, the statewide floor rate for child care subsidy reimbursements will level the playing field for providers and change lives. We've got more work to do in order to make North Carolina the best place to raise a family, but this is a transformative step in the right direction.
