🗑️ NO INCREASE TO TROY’S GARBAGE FEE IN THE 2027 PROPOSED BUDGET!

Keeping Troy affordable means making sure our residents have access to essential city services without putting an additional burden on their wallets.

In 2026, the annual garbage fee was reduced by $25 per unit, and in our proposed 2027 budget, there is NO increase!

The Mantello Administration recognizes that affordability and accessibility go hand in hand. By lowering costs down and encouraging property owners who currently use private haulers to make the switch to City of Troy sanitation services, we are working to make municipal services a more affordable and accessible option for more residents.

After seeing the success in participation from our residents this past year, in 2027 we will once again administer a Free At Home Bulk Trash Pickup for residents who utilize city sanitation services - furthering the Mantello Administration's commitment to delivering vital services for our community without the financial burden.

Our commitment is simple: deliver reliable city services, close the affordability gap, and make every dollar count for Troy taxpayers. 💪

🚧Sewer System Improvement Project Work Beginning Tomorrow!

Mayor Carmella R. Mantello announced that the City of Troy is beginning a multi-year sewer system improvement initiative to identify problem areas, address aging infrastructure, and improve the long-term reliability of the city’s sewer network.

This work will begin tomorrow morning on Northern Drive and continue into next week. Crews will start with conducting sewer cleaning and CCTV inspections to remove debris, identify potential issues, and evaluate the condition of underground sewer pipes. Roads will remain open, and flaggers will be present to help ensure traffic safety throughout the work.

The City’s Department of Public Utilities has developed an Asset Management Plan and Capital Improvement Plan to guide these efforts. Following the initial cleaning and inspection work, the City plans to prepare a bid package this winter for a larger series of combined sewer overflow (CSO) improvements next year.

“This may not be the most exciting work to the average person, but it is absolutely critical to the foundation of our city’s future. Reliable sewer infrastructure is essential for economic development, supporting our business owners, protecting homeowners, and creating opportunities for continued growth. Without a strong sewer system, we cannot build a strong city. It is the kind of investment that may go unnoticed when everything is working as it should, but it is fundamental to everything we want to accomplish in Troy," said Mayor Mantello.

Last night, Mayor Mantello, members of the City administration, and the Troy Police Department met with Principal Coplin and the KIPP Troy Elementary School team to discuss new ways to enhance pedestrian safety for students, staff, and families.

Potential improvements include reconfiguring bus parking locations, establishing designated no parking zones during school drop off and pickup hours, and adding signage to improve visibility and traffic flow.

Thank you to Principal Coplin and the entire KIPP team for partnering with us on this important effort. We look forward to continuing to work together to identify the best solutions and make the area around KIPP School safer for everyone! 🤝

🎥 EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS: BREAKING DOWN TROY’S PROPOSED 2027 BUDGET

What does the proposed 2027 City of Troy budget mean for you and your family? Mayor Mantello breaks it all down in this video.

✅ Under the state tax cap, with a proposed 3.4% property tax increase, approximately $7.12 per month for a $150,000 homeowner.

✅ No increase to the annual garbage fee, following a $25 per unit reduction in 2026.

✅ A growing budget surplus, stronger financial position, and a continued focus on responsible spending.

✅ Investments in public safety, infrastructure, cleaner neighborhoods, parks, and economic development projects.

✅ Approximately $100,000 in annual savings as Troy begins its first full year operating out of the former Proctor’s Theatre as City Hall.

We know families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, and the City is facing multi-million-dollar increases in pension and healthcare expenses. That’s why we’re taking a hard look at spending, exploring new revenue opportunities, and making smart investments to protect the services residents depend on.

Troy is moving forward, and our focus remains on a safer, cleaner, more affordable city for everyone.

Statement from Mayor Carmella R. Mantello Following Hit-and-Run Involving City Ambulance Yesterday Evening: ⬇️

“I am thankful that there were no serious injuries to our Troy Fire Department and EMS personnel following yesterday evening’s hit-and-run crash involving a city ambulance. Our first responders put themselves on the line every day to protect and serve our community, and they deserve the same respect and responsibility from others on our roads.

To the individual(s) who fled the scene, I urge you to do the right thing and turn yourself in immediately. Leaving the scene of a crash is unacceptable, and we expect full accountability for what happened. We are grateful our personnel are safe and will continue to support our first responders as this incident is investigated.”
