News Release,
On June 9, 2020, at approximately 1130 pm a vehicle pursuit entered Montgomery County from Warren County with the suspect vehicle reaching speeds of 130 mph. The suspect vehicle was being followed by the Foristell Police department who advised the subject left the roadway, went over the embankment near the High Hill parking area on the north side of the exit ramp where it came to a stop. The driver described as a black male wearing a white shirt and dark pants left the vehicle and fled north on foot into a wooded area. He was identified by the passenger as Royjeri McClendon out of Georgia. It was also learned he had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.
The passenger, a pregnant female, was transported by EMS for medical evaluation. A search of the area utilizing K9s, thermal imagers, and heavy law enforcement presence was conducted throughout the night without success.
At approximately 8:00 a.m. June 10th, the Montgomery County Communications Center was alerted to a subject matching McClendon’s description in the lobby of a hotel in New Florence, accompanied by a pregnant female. The couple obtained a hotel room and upon arrival Deputies located the female in the lobby area. She led Law Enforcement to their room and opened the door. McClendon was in the doorway and upon seeing law enforcement pushed the door shut and refused to come out of the room.
The female advised law enforcement McClendon was in possession of a handgun. McClendon advised law enforcement they would have to kill him to get him out. After approximately two hours, Deputies successfully negotiated McClendon’s surrender. McClendon was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for the outstanding warrants. McClendon also faces possible charges for a Felon in Possession of Firearm.
We would like to thank Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jonesburg Police, Wellsville Police and Montgomery City Police for their assistance in ensuring a peaceful resolution to this incident.

Tracy Ellis was sentenced to 14 years in prison for her daughter’s death. I am proud of all the hard work put into this case by my office.
Prosecutor Tony Skouby requested a year for every year her daughter was alive. This was a case where everyone worked countless hours to gather eveey piece of evidence to hold Ellis accountable for her actions.
It is nice to bring some closure to such an emotional investigation.
