If this is true, and happens this week, City Council attorney Silverman would be making well over $200k a year! Outrageous!
Rensselaer Democrats are apparently not done trying to hand major money to Ian Silverman, their purported legal counsel.
A resolution filed for the October 7 meeting would double Silverman's salary and also make him eligible for city health benefits.
Just last month, Democrats tried to ram through a big salary increase for Ian totaling $56,000, but the massive hike failed to get the votes. We will see how many members of the Democrat majority want to step forward to give a big raise for someone described as one of the mayor's enforcers.
The raise set for October 7 would give Silverman a raise of $35,200 and bring his salary to $71,400. And he would be eligible for city health insurance that costs $30,000 annually. Big numbers!
Even bigger when you figure Ian is already making $50,000 through a part-time job with the Troy City Council's Democrat majority. And he is listed as a full-time counsel with the state Department of Health at $145,000.
We'll see if Rensselaer Dems are ready to hand over more cash to Silverman.
