Border Community Alliance BCA's mission is bridging the border and fostering community through education, & cultural exchange. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization.

Border Community Alliance offers access to the rich heritage and great potential of the US/Mexico borderlands of Arizona/Sonora through education, research, cultural exchange, and advocacy for social welfare in partnership with FESAC, a Sonoran NGO. Our mission
BCA is about bridging the border and fostering community through education, collaboration and cultural exchange. We do this in the Nogales region of Southern Arizona/Sonora Mexico. We have no religious or political affiliations. We depend on donations and grants for funding. Incorporated in the state of Arizona, our board members reside in southern Arizona. Our advisory board consists of people from across the globe. We are based in Tubac, Arizona, a community forty miles south of Tucson and twenty miles north of the US/Mexico border. Values
We believe in social investment, not charity. We seek to listen and learn from each other, rather than presume we know it all. We respect the cultures and traditions of both Mexico and the US. We value working together with like-minded organizations and individuals on both sides of the border. We welcome participation in our programs regardless of one’s viewpoint of immigration.

Join us for our next Borderlands Forum with Tucson-based immigration activist and author, Dora Luz Rodriguez

40 years ago, Dora almost died in Organ Pipe National Monument as she crossed the border with 25 others escaping political persecution as a youth leader in El Salvador. Of her group, 13 died in Organ Pipe. She and the others barely survived. She has since devoted her life to helping others, and in particular, others fleeing safety across borders.

Join us for the first annual Dan Anderson Memorial Lecture as we honor one of our founding members and hear Dora’s heroic story.
With FESAC and Wittner Museum
Partially supported by a grant from Arizona Community Foundation

Free event - reserve your spot at www.bordercommunityalliance.org or call (520) 398-3229.

🎉 We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Kiko Trujillo, Director of ARSOBO, for being named one of the five 2026 CNN Heroes of the Year!
Two years ago, BCA nominated Kiko for this recognition, inspired by his incredible work creating greater opportunities for people with disabilities across the Arizona–Sonora borderlands.
Now, that story is being shared on a national stage. ❤️
A CNN crew spent two days in Nogales in June documenting Kiko, ARSOBO, and the work being done to build a more inclusive border community.
We couldn't think of a more deserving person to receive this recognition. Congratulations, Kiko, and congratulations to the entire ARSOBO team! 👏
📰 Watch Kiko’s CNN Heroes story and learn more about ARSOBO through the link in our bio.
And stay tuned! In October, the public will have the opportunity to vote for CNN Hero of the Year from the five finalists.
We’ll be sharing more about Kiko, ARSOBO, and their incredible work in the weeks ahead. 🌎

Set against the contested borderlands of the Southwest and northern Mexico, Now I Surrender reimagines the history of the Apache Wars and the surrender of Geronimo, blending history, archival research, and fiction to explore displacement, survival, and the shared heritage of the U.S.–Mexico borderlands.
