Look at this alleyway ✨sparkle!✨ Eight volunteers came out to help with this past Sunday's cleanup. We filled up seven large bags and consolidated a pile of large material for pickup. And one of our volunteers gave this 🌼🌼blooming Palo Verde🌼🌼 a trim!

A big thanks to our volunteers and Tucson Clean and Beautiful for helping to make this happen.

Sunday (3/30) from 8am-11am: Bronx Park Neighborhood Cleanup

This Sunday, March 30th, residents of Bronx Park will be gathering for a neighborhood cleanup! We'll be meeting on 10th Ave at the entrance to the alleyway located between Drachman and Adams St:

We'll spruce up the alleyway from 9th Ave to 11th Ave, and a bit along Drachman. With enough time and volunteers we may give some attention to the Bronx Wash, as well.

Please come out for an hour or two to meet your neighbors, lend a hand, and let us know where you think could use some attention for the next cleanup.

Supplies and tools are supplied by Tucson Clean and Beautiful, so all you need to bring is water.

You'll also be able to get an up-close look at the new bike path infrastructure: cross walks, bike lanes, chicanes, and traffic circles. Things are happening in Bronx Park!

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday!

"Many hands make light work..."

Hello, Bronx Park neighbors. As association vice president, I try to organize cleanups in Bronx Park a handful of times a year. Previous association sponsored cleanups have included stretches of the Bronx Wash, and alleyways between/near Drachman, Adams, and Lee. Our residents have also attended Ward 3 sponsored cleanups within our association boundaries, as well as over in Barrio Blue Moon.

Presently, I would like to schedule one for March 29th or 30th. While the above locations are certainly due for some help, I wanted to first reach out to see who in Bronx Park has noticed a specific spot that needs attention, and could pledge themself and perhaps another neighbor or two for about 2 hours of cleanup on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I will arrange for equipment, supplies, and bag pickup through Tucson Clean and Beautiful. I hope to then schedule another for April and/or May before summer sets in.

We have several residents who attend cleanups consistently who I'm sure would like to attend, and these events are always a great way to meet new neighbors.

***Please PM me here, or email me at [email protected] with your location suggestion(s), goals, and number of interested volunteers for a cleanup.***

Thank you.

***Attention Bronx Park: Please come lend us an hour or two of your time this Saturday morning (April 8th from 8-10am) to help clear buffelgrass at our new parklet at 10th and Lee!***

Tucson Clean and Beautiful organized this event to further beautify the Bronx Bowtie Park. The basins were finished around the start of the new year, we finished our planting in February, and the park is taking shape beautifully! See the attached flyer and further info from TCB.

Join us Saturday morning, April 8th, as we remove invasive Buffelgrass (and other invasive species) from Bronx Bowtie Park!

Buffelgrass poses an immediate threat to the Sonoran ecosystem. Invasive buffelgrass alters natural ecological processes, competes with and excludes native plants, and alters wildlife habitat. Most importantly, it increases the frequency of wildfires. 🌾🚫

Help us restore the desert! 🌵 🏜

Join us! Please bring a refillable (to reduce plastic waste) water bottle, hat, and wear closed toed shoes. All necessary tools and supplies will be provided.

Bronx Park Neighborhood Tree Planting | Tucson Clean and Beautiful, Inc. 10/17/2022

All residents of Bronx Park should have received a door hanger last week informing them about the neighborhood tree planting happening Nov. 5th. This is a reminder that this Thursday, Oct. 20th is the last day to order your free trees through the TCB website! Follow this link to do so - you'll need to apply the coupon code:

https://tucsoncleanandbeautiful.org/bronx-park/

If you're looking for recommendations, the association board recommends the Blue Palo Verde, Desert Ironwood, or Desert Willow (all the trees in the top row - they appear to be out of stock on Ironwoods at the moment). The Texas Ebony is a nice choice, too.

Trees For You 09/06/2022

$5 Trees, Starting Tuesday 9/6 - While Supplies Last! After a hiatus, TEP's Trees For You program has replenished their stock and is up and running again. Every TEP customer (which includes you, of course) is eligible for up to three trees a year for only $5 each. Information can be found via the link below. To order your trees, click "Create Order," log in to your TEP account, scroll down to "Trees For You" (under "Account Programs"), and click the "View/Order" button.

If you're not sure of what to order from TEPs offerings, take the advice of some local native plant enthusiasts and grow native: stick to Desert Willow, Native Mesquite, and Sweet Acacia for maximum wildlife attraction and the lowest water needs. Desert Hackberry, Arizona Ash, and Mexican Bird of Paradise are fine choices, too, but will require supplementary watering.

During the ordering process, you will need to specify a nursery from which to pick up your trees - EcoGro is one of the options, and is just down Oracle/Main on Saint Mary's.

As the link above mentions, you will need to contact Arizona 811 before planting to ensure you avoid planting too close to any utilities.

Once you've gotten your trees home and your property marked by Arizona 811, if you need any assistance with planting, I and a few other residents of Bronx Park have agreed to help anyone who needs it to plant their trees. Please feel free to reach out to me here if you require assistance, or if you'd like to be added to the list of helpers. There will be a watering regimen you will need to follow until your trees are established. Again, native trees (those mentioned above) will require little to no water once established (usually after a year or two).

You should have all recently received, in your mailbox, the first annual Bronx Park Newsletter. It mentions another tree planting for our neighborhood happening in November - this program is unrelated, so feel free to take advantage of both!

-J.R., Vice President
