Young people ages 15-24 have more time to apply for $1,000-$5,000 in funding for youth-led climate projects in Tucson.

The Tucson Youth Climate Action Fund has doubled to $100,000, thanks to matching support from the Arizona Community Foundation.

The Arizona Community Foundation is matching the City of Tucson’s support dollar for dollar from Bloomberg Philanthropies, through its participation in the Tucson Youth Climate Action Fund.

Just 10 months after City and State officials launched the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Tucson House, 25 households are moving into the newly renovated apartments on the building’s 15th floor. The move-in marks the first milestone in the transformation of Tucson House, a historic 17-story building and longtime public housing community in the Thrive in the 05 area. Tucson’s zoning rules determine where emergency shelters can be located. Tucson Planning and Development Services is reviewing those rules, and the community input survey will remain open through Sunday, October 25.

The survey asks where shelters should be located, which design and operational standards matter most, and how much oversight and community input are required before a shelter is approved. Responses help City staff understand community priorities as the review moves forward. No decisions have been made yet.

The survey takes a few minutes and is open to everyone. Responses are due by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

In the latest episode of Zoo News, we check in on Ndizi, the baby giraffe at Reid Park Zoo, as he continues to grow, explore his habitat, and spend time with his mom. The reticulated giraffe calf was named through a community poll that received more than 9,000 votes, with Ndizi becoming the top choice. Since his birth, Ndizi has already grown about a foot and is now measuring close to 9 feet tall and 600 pounds. Watch the video to learn more.

City of Tucson partners and community volunteers gathered Thursday, Oct. 8, for a Team Up to Clean Up in the Amphi Neighborhood near Stone Avenue and Fort Lowell Road.

The cleanup was organized in partnership with Thrive in the 05, City of Tucson Housing & Community Development, Tucson Environmental Services, Old Pueblo Community Services, Tucson Ward 3 City Council Office of Kevin Dahl, and community volunteers. Participants met at the Circle K, 10 W. Fort Lowell Road, before heading out to help remove litter and improve the surrounding area.

The Team Up to Clean Up program brings residents, neighborhood groups, City departments, and community partners together to support cleaner, safer, and more welcoming public spaces across Tucson.
