Job searching is one of the few things where you do everything right and still hear nothing back for weeks. It wears people down, and most of that has nothing to do with how good you are at the work.

Setting a smaller daily goal helps. Two applications and then you are done for the day is more sustainable than trying to do it all at once and burning out by Thursday.

The quiet stretches are part of it, not a verdict on you.

October is the quiet stretch before the calendar gets loud. That makes it a good time to decide what you are actually saying yes to.

Most of what fills up November and December got accepted out of habit. Passing on something now is a lot easier than canceling on someone later, and it is easier on whoever is doing the planning too.

Wellness usually gets talked about like something you handle on your own. Rest, quiet time, taking care of your body. All of that counts, but it leaves out a big piece.

A lot of what keeps people steady comes from other people. The aunt who calls to see how you are doing. The cousin who texts back. The neighbor who notices you have not been around. None of it looks like much from the outside.

The part people miss is that it runs both ways. Being the one who reaches out tends to do as much for you as being the one who gets the message.

Seeing people gets hard when everyone is busy.
The fix is to stop treating it like it needs its own time slot.

Put someone on speaker while you do the dishes.
Bring a kid along on the errand.
Let someone sit in the kitchen while you cook.

This is not a lesser version of spending time together. A lot of the best conversations happen sideways, while both people have their hands busy.
