A variety of events are scheduled throughout the year by International Faculty & Scholars and International Student Services to introduce visiting international scholars and students to American culture. On Sunday, April 28th, IFS and ISS teamed up to take a group of 30 for a golfing experience. Luckily, no one had to hunt for lost balls or carry heavy golf bags at TopGolf Tucson, located at 4050 W Costco Place.
It was truly an international experience with participants from eleven countries, including Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Ghana, Indonesia, Mexico, Slovakia, South Africa, and Ukraine. Only one or two had ever held a golf club before, but that didn't matter at all since TopGolf is all about lucky bounces! Similar to bowling, but with golf "bays" instead of lanes, players earn points by hitting microchipped golf balls into colored targets.
Lots of points were scored, but even more important were the personal connections that were made as these international Wildcats shared delicious food, stunning mountain views, and lots of laughter.

J-1 Scholars enjoyed festive holiday music, lights, and even a little snow courtesy of Mannheim Steamroller at Centennial Hall. IFS regularly hosts events to foster cultural exchange and help scholars to get the most out of their time in the United States.
