The other day, a Veteran asked for me. Her daughter had noticed a object on our grounds and she and her mom decided to dig it up. It was a candle jar, and inside it was this letter. The letter is covered in wax and it reads "money is flowing to me now. Excellent job opportunities that pay well are flowing to me now. I will no longer be broke. I will have money to pay all bills off with a lot left over. I will be able to buy what I want now. Money and monetary wealth will never cease to flow to me. " I am going to post a picture of this letter with a copy of this post. We don't know when this was buried, but this is the hope of every veteran served here at Esperanza. The ability to be self-sufficient. To care for themselves and enjoy life. Can you create a post that is warm and fits into the campaign where I can make a donation ask?Honored veteran's hope while balancing respectful tone and donation appeal. This is such a powerful, tender moment. A veteran literally buried a hope spell/manifestation letter on the grounds - it's desperate hope made tangible. The user wants to use this to connect to the campaign but keep it warm and respectful. This needs to honor the dignity of whoever wrote this while showing what Esperanza actually provides - the real path to that self-sufficiency they were hoping for.
I need to be very careful with tone here - not pitying, not condescending, but honoring the humanity and hope in this moment. Here's your post:

The other day, a veteran asked to see me. Her daughter had noticed something on our grounds and they decided to dig it up together.
It was a candle jar. Inside was a letter, covered in wax, with these words:
"Money is flowing to me now. Excellent job opportunities that pay well are flowing to me now. I will no longer be broke. I will have money to pay all bills off with a lot left over. I will be able to buy what I want now. Money and monetary wealth will never cease to flow to me."
We don't know when this was buried or by whom. But we know this: this is the hope of every veteran we serve.
The ability to be self-sufficient. To care for themselves and their families. To enjoy life. To wake up without fear. To have enough - and then some.

At Esperanza, we turn that buried hope into reality. We provide the foundation - stable housing, sobriety support, case management, job assistance - so veterans can build the life they're manifesting.

We walk alongside them as that hope becomes tangible: a paycheck, keys to permanent housing, a full refrigerator, a future.
This holiday season, 101 veterans and their families are living proof that hope paired with support works. But our work continues into 2026, and we need your help to sustain it.

Will you help us turn hope into reality?

💙 Today is ! 💙

A Little History: Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y in New York City, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. The idea was simple but powerful—what if we had a day dedicated entirely to generosity? What started as a local initiative has now grown into a global movement celebrated in over 100 countries, with millions of people participating each year.

As we head into the holiday season, we remain dedicated to our homeless Veterans and their families. If you are in a position to support a great cause on this and beyond, please consider our community of Veterans and their families here at Esperanza.

Home for the Holidays 🏡

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday - a day when generosity takes center stage. This year, we're launching our holiday campaign with a simple but powerful goal: keep veteran families home through the holidays and into 2026.

Right now, 101 veterans and their families call Esperanza home. Children who will wake up on Christmas morning in a safe place. Moms and dads rebuilding their lives with dignity. Veterans staying sober, finding work, and looking toward a future they couldn't see just months ago.

But our work doesn't stop when the calendar turns. We need $50,000 to sustain our housing, case management, and support services through the season and beyond. In 2025, we're expanding our services to provide intensive sobriety support for veterans new to recovery - meeting them at their most vulnerable moment with the resources they need to succeed.

Here's what makes this special for Arizona donors: Your gift qualifies for the QCO tax credit (code 20428). A donation of $470 (single filers) or $938 (married filing jointly) costs you nothing - you're simply deciding where your state tax dollars go: the general fund, or directly to housing veterans.

Every gift matters:

$100 helps a family through the week
$250 provides essential support services
$470/$938 maximizes your Arizona tax credit
Any amount keeps veterans home

This Giving Tuesday, will you give veterans the gift of home?

Thank you for standing with our veterans.

Gratitude in Action
This time of year, we get bombarded with tender moments at Esperanza - the kind that remind us exactly why we do this work.
Right now, we have 82 children on campus. The other day during our long-term housing Thanksgiving celebration, I watched them run around the play equipment while their moms enjoyed each other's company. We chatted about the camp Target is sponsoring for fall break. The excitement over simple things - normalcy, contentment, events to look forward to - is so heart warming.

Friday night, our friend Brandon Bennett from Epique Military Network was dropping off turkeys. One of our veterans got out of his scooter to look Brandon in the eye, shake his hand, and thank him for his contribution. It was the dignity of two veterans acknowledging each other for everything they are and continue to be.

Yesterday, the amazing pinups from Operation Toothbrush served a full Thanksgiving meal to the veterans on campus.
Then there's St. Albans Church's outreach team, who took our wish list and filled our supply cabinet so full it's spilling into an empty office. And the members of the Moose Lodge of San Javier, dropping off full baskets with everything needed to cook a Thanksgiving meal for our transitional housing residents.

This is what community looks like. This is what it means to honor those who served.

We are deeply grateful - for our veterans who trust us with their journey, and for this community that makes our work possible. Thank you for believing in what we do.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Esperanza. 🦃 Suzanne Bond, CEO
