The splash pad at Santa Rita Park is back on!! 💦 Come out and splash!💦

Update Oct. 4: The splash pad is back up and running!!! 💦 💦

💦 Santa Rita Splash Pad Update

Well, sometimes brand-new equipment needs a little fine-tuning. 🛠️

Due to an equipment issue requiring a warranty repair, the Santa Rita Park splash pad is expected to remain closed for the rest of Saturday.

A technician is on the way, and we’re hopeful splash pad fun can resume soon. We apologize for the delayed enjoyment while we work out the kinks with the new equipment.

We’ll share an update as soon as the splash pad is ready to reopen. Thanks for your patience!

Edith Ball Adaptive Recreation Center will close **Nov. 30, 2026, through late February 2027** while the therapy and recreation pools receive new plaster, decking and a new ventilation system.

The improvements are funded in part by **Tucson Delivers Proposition 407** and will help keep the aging facility safe and in service for years to come.

Want to learn more? Join us at an upcoming public meeting:

This month, we are proud to spotlight Beki Quintero, Ward 5’s representative on the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission (TPRC).

Tucson’s parks have been part of Beki’s life since childhood — from playing at Mission Manor Park to family outings at Randolph Park. Over the years, that connection grew into decades of advocacy and service.

She became involved in her neighborhood's years-long effort to develop a park of its own, giving her a firsthand look at the work, partnerships, and persistence required to turn a community vision into reality. When the park was finally built, Beki was the first to submit paperwork to adopt it through Tucson Clean and Beautiful and has helped maintain it since 1994 and helped create the Children’s Peace Garden, and continues that legacy.

In 1998, the park was renamed Manuel Herrera Jr. Park in honor of Beki's father, who played an instrumental role in bringing the neighborhood's dream to life by finding funders and building the connections needed to make the park possible. Today, as Ward 5’s representative on the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission, bringing the community’s voice to the table.

Her message is simple: get involved. 💚

Parks are more than places to play—they’re places where neighbors connect, memories are made, and generations leave their mark.

We’re proud to have Beki serving our community and grateful for the time, experience, and heart she brings to Tucson. 🌵
